snellgrove, darling, are you on f*cking glue???

SEVENTY NOTES ON SHORTS?!

i bought some of these for 40 quid:

they have lycra shorts on the inside which can be removed so youre left with standard baggy shorts... the best pair of shorts ive ever used - they look casual enough that you can walk round town and uni without the odd looks you get when in lycra shorts, but still get the benefit of lycra for support. Also these shorts are a little longer, so if you come off at high speed (on or off road) your pins are protected.

70 quid is ALOT of money. Id spend that on a skid lid, but not on SHORTS! ;) :) i hope you have adequate safety gear after all this!

Where from mate? they look brilliant!! :D I wants I wants!! :D

Look no further.

all the UK MTB mags rave about them, the lycra inner shorts are worth 40 quid on their own, to be honest.

nice... well its something for me to get into I think :)

If I keep up cycling for a month then Ive earned them :) Means its not just a fad/gimmick, but im gonna actually do it on a regular basis.

Thing is, if your more comfortable... youll enjoy it more... and then want to ride more, or at least be less discouraged by it.

if you dont enjoy it, the bike will just gather dust in the garage...

I rode 4 times and did just under 60 miles on the weekend, mostly due to my new socks & shorts & gloves! was very comfortable, I couldnt get enough (addicted to the speeeeeeed :D )  oh and that gorgeous weather!! 8)

I ache a bit today  but its all good fun

lol bloody good going, couldnt even dream of doing that over a weekend. 44miles over the weekend is the most I can think of myself doing it, and even then im completely shattered come sunday evening when I get home.

Thing is if I buy those shorts, then get bored of cycling... then theres no point in having bought them, where as if I have a nice continuing buzz after a month then buy those shorts my already good feeling about cycling will only get better with the shorts :) much like adjusting my bike did.

And... it means if I hit that magical 500mile marker at the end of the month then it means I must be hooked or bloody stupid :D lol, and it means I can justify the expense of £40 on the shorts :)

Your already hooked mate, if your £70 spangley shorts do the job for you, fair nuff mate :) but for me I think to spend that sort of money on something I may lose attraction in, would be pointless. Same reasoning for buying an expensive bike. The frame is fine on my cheapy, just replace the parts as I go :)

For comparison I use the following trousers for everyday ones, and the ones I ride my bike in.

Basically combat/cargo trousers, similar in layout to the shorts badabing linked to :) only the arse bit bloody hurts after a while.

Yeah, dont go and blow a load if you are in two minds about the thing

I am completely and utterly addicted to my racer :D I love riding it, I really do! Something about them, as a piece of machinery, they make you push hard and go fast  So yeah, I dont mind buying really high quality clothing to make things as nice as possible - its a reasonably unforgiving ride and there aint much (virtually none, actually!) padding on the saddle, so shorts with chamois required really :)

Im currently on a mission to get faster, so I did a lot of miles (for me) on the weekend - I normally would do around 15 - 25 or so - stupid really.

Just invest in some lederhosen and you can indulge yourself in some German slap dancing between riding ;)
