0 miles left

How many miles left can you do on 0 miles? I think the car I got at the moment has a 65l tank but last time I filled it up it took over 67 because I went 10 miles past 0. Wouldn't dare do it on my own car but it does make me wonder.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

When my bingo light comes on, I get less than 10 miles.  I've tested it.

Never counted but i have run out due to thinking i had more fuel, on old cars.

My current cars fuel light comes on, but when its properly running out it flashes, i've always managed to get it to a garage though.

My Mazda 2s computer is a joke. Fill the tank up and it reports around 410 miles. The warning 100 miles later and it'll report about 250 miles to go. 200 miles in and it'll be 125 miles ish.

Warning light flashes around the 40 miles mark. Usually though at this point it seems to go down at 2x the actual mileage you're doing. never tested to see what happens when it says empty.

in the Audi I had about 40miles more after it said 0. I've not tried the skoda yet, but it does about 600miles to a full tank (£55) so don't feel the need to push it.

i was stuck in the middle of nowhere once... started running out of fuel... just kept heading home... took it nice and each...

it conked out on me a few times so I stopped and put a gallon can in it....

got a bit further.. and it conked out a load more times... but it kept starting again.... I did about 100miles after putting that gallon in :o

it was the van I ran on veg oil and I'd added a little lift pump to the tank....  Each time it conk out I free-wheeled as far as I could... i think while I was free-wheeling that little pump was filling up the diesel filter enough for me to start it and get a little further

I was only planning to get as close to home as possible so I could phone for someone to come with more fuel.... but I made it all the way to a petrol station :)

Only gone past warning on bikes.

SV650 - 40+ miles on warning
Bandit 1200 - I did 30 but sure it had more left when sloshed the tank
DRZ400 - Heh ran out of fuel twice on this due to leaving the tank in the reserve position and thinking "Its ok I still have my reserve... oh"
BMW650 - did 60 miles on warning light before I got to the station.

Its a damn useful thing to know even to the point just keep a bit of fuel spare and see how far you can go ;)

I think the most I've run past empty is about 20-30 miles, I wouldn't wanted to have risked any further the times I've done it. I reckon the MX-5 will do about 20 miles, maybe more if you drive like a super grandma and don't go above 60mph.

my skoda has ~7 litres left when the light comes on, so ball park that's about 70 miles. I think the most I've ever done is about 40 but I really don't like running it that low.

My old 306 had a huge tank and a diesel engine, I honestly didn't believe the fuel light even worked until 2 days before I part-exed it when I was deliberately running the tank right down and it started to come on whenever I turned right. That was at about 650 miles IIRC.

When I had my 1.6 Focus and during the fuel tanker drivers warning scares earlier on in the year, I dared it for 33 miles while on the light and literally when trying to get to the petrol station on the day I was s***ing myself in case it would conk out lol. Managed to get to the petrol station in time but even at the petrol station I was still queuing up behind 10 other idiotic panic buying drivers for around 15 minutes. I think the fuel reserve tank in MK1 Focus's is something like 5 litres isn't it?

In my current motor which is a MK1 Seat Leon 1.6, every time the needle hits the last line on the gauge and the light comes on, within 15 minutes of the light coming on the needle is just about sitting at the empty point! I dared it a couple of weeks ago at 27 miles on my way in to work but I thought I would fill up at lunch because the petrol station is only round the corner. Come lunchtime, car wouldn't start  :o After about 5 attempts it finally fired up but it was running very rough for a couple of minutes. I figured it was down to because of the car being parked on a slight incline, and therefore whatever fuel was left in the tank was not in direct contact with the sender *doh*
