If you had 25k to spend on a car (for everyday use) what would you choose and why? :P
-
guess it depends on whether people have to commute etc.
id seriously look at a 330d or a4 2.5v6 tdi
-
probably try and blag a good deal from Audi for an A5.
-
R
34
SKYLINE
-
One of these (http://tatanano.inservices.tatamotors.com/tatamotors/) and spend the rest on a boob job
-
23k on a left boob! after all youll feel a right big one, in a nano

Vauxhall VXR8. You can get 07 models for that price. Considering I only do about 50 miles a week now it might as well be a FUN 50 miles.
-
Audi TT.
-
That is a really nice budget tbh, you can get some really nice cars even in Rip off Britain for that price at the moemnt
-
5 year old M5?
I believe the reasons are obvious.
-
Yep, that a skyline would thrash it :P
R34, with a gas conversion
Could there be a more perfect daily driver?
Big boot, 5 seats, and no car will even come close to it on corners. (Except for an R32 skyline)
-
Good suggestions all round!
The R34 looks too "muscle car" though, I think it would attract a bit too much unwanted attention!
5 year old M5.... id rather have a 1-2 year old M3 me thinks!
Audi TT - Are these still considered hairdresser cars??
Vauxhall VXR8 - Its a vauxhall at the end of the day... and quite an old design now...
Audi A4 - Nice but a tad boring, same with the 330d really....
Maybe im too fussy?
I love the A5 but the 3 doors is a bit unpractical, and its quite a bit over 25k.... I might just be boring and get a mondeo st tdci [used] as I really cant decide...
I do about 300-400 miles per week, so it needs to be able to do over 35mpg when driven lightly, boot needs to be able to hold at least 2 suitcases. Also id rather it wasnt "too" old, in warranty if possible...
Ive searched autotrader high and low but nothing shouts out to me... I like the ford mustang but again would attract too much attention...
Bring on more suggestions, I must be missing something?? I think the problem with 25k is that its at the high end of the "normal" cars [i.e top spec mondeo would be close to 25k new] but bottom of the "slightly better" cars.... ARGH!

Lexus is always a good choice, comfy, good build quality, comfy.
One of the M5s Tiff Nedel powerslided in top gear so many years back would be mint!
Audi TT, a good one for 25K would be a top of the range one, if it were a few years old and itd look and be mean. And good build quality.
Jag X type maybe ?
-
A brand new TT would cost $32K here.
-
moony the mondeo st tdci is a great car and you cant go wrong with it tbh, also used ones are about 12k so youll have plently of change left over
-
Mondy ST diesel is a good car actually.
I didnt realise we where actually trying to find you a car moony, just thought we where messing around.
You might just find a 1.8T A5 within £25k.
If not what about a newest shape Merc C Class, they look amazing.

Indeed!
The only "problem" is the power... ive got 200hp at the moment and they only have 155hp :/ But I do want diesel, for the mpg etc...
-
mmm that merc is quite nice... much better than the older shaped C class, I didnt even know there was a new one out!
Mercs have a bit of an "old man" image about them but I dont care too much about that....
Cheers for the suggestions so far :)

a truck. a big f**ked off double cab pick up truck

Like an Audi isnt boring :P
Id be like BMW Z4 please, and a £6k Astra petrol on the side. Youd get loads of change from 25k if you used ya head.
-
Buy a normal diesel for the week and get yourself an R32 Skyline GT-R for the weekend.

less bhp but loads more torque !...
at 200hp vs 155hp Id say theyll be a pretty close match once you get used to driving it !
-
Get a Hyundai Tucson and be cool like me ! 100,000 warranty on the power train.
-
id go for the mondeo moony, ive been looking at them as well and I wouldnt mind one as my next car!
id get the saloon tho the estate looks a bit ugly
Edit: if youre worried about power why not get the ST220? not great fuel consumption obviously but a great car nonetheless
-
I thought this was a theoretical question!
In seriousness I would be taking a look at ::
SEAT Leon FR. Not the fastest car out there, but its a Golf/A3 with a less obvious badge. Still a very good car. Also semi-practical, and they do the Diesel, though its "only" 8 seconds to 60 rather than 7 that you get with the petrols.
Second hand Vectra VXR. Wouldnt recommend any Brand New Vauxhall, the badge snobbery means that the 2nd hand prices are sh*te. However these are quick, even if they arent great handling. The Vectra Replacement LOOKS good though.

Id not heard of the S5 before but it gets my vote.

These are nice, one of my old boss bought 2 for him and the other senior partner. Though they bough "normal" S5s with the 3.0L TD.
