Anyone ever done this? My boss had a go a few weeks back and I got friendly with the team owners whilst I was there watching - HOOKED!!
I filmed the event and put together a video of my boss - ended up with the team owner asking me how much I'd charge to film the next event and make them a promo video! I said I'd do it for free and they could sort me out with a car for a future event. Here's the vid I made - filmed at Meiford last Sunday :
So now to have a go myself - can't wait!!

popular in sweden, there is a track here in my little hometown (not in the movie)
some from hometrack

Awesome video, good skills. What did you shoot it with? DSLR?
That will be mad fun to have a crack at.

Great video, its something I'd love to have a go at given the time and money.

My brother & his mates used to, as well as destruction derby style racing.
One thing they learned early was to move the radiator! They used to mount it to the roof!

Busted Knuckle charge £150 to rent a car for the day (includes them working on it between races if needed!) and it was about an extra £40 for fuel and the costs of transporting the car to and from the venue. Not bad for a full days racing. They also do an 8 hour endurance race (up to 8 people per team) and thats only £150 per car too so thats REALLY good value!

Yeah these guys had some of them in the back - I don't like it. One bag crash with the wrong pipe getting knicked and its scalding water to the face whilst you're strapped in. Most people had steam tanks in the front rather than rads - they seemed bulletproof as long as you remembered to fill them up!

Seriously? So you could book in advance, rock up to a venue and for £200 or so you get to race? 8)
I'd definitely have to take a look at doing that at some point

Yup - depending on which meet it is you get between 4 and 6 races in a day for that of roughly 10 minutes each. Its great value and the good thing is the atmosphere at these events is absolutely great. The ones I go to are in very rural areas of Wales so things like health and safety and political correctness haven't reached them yet which is awesome!
I haven't been to an endurance yet but from what they've told me they're by far the best value.

A few of my customers do Banger Racing but with the rising price of metal most of the cars end up in our yard now.
I think its a sport only for the rich these days. :D
I'd be on the look out for a volvo 850 if i were you! We had 2 in the yard in the last week so still a few around.

Nah doesn't have to be expensive - just depends how you do it. Most of the cars at the events I've been to are still scrappies writing off their wrecks before they crush them.
We're doing a 6 hour enduro on November 3rd. £150 entry fee, £150 - £400 to provide us a car, fully prepped and ready to go. So between £50 and £90 each depending on what car we choose tomorrow and thats for a full 1 hour behind the wheel each, and another hour on track as passenger each. Thats hardly an expensive day out - I've spent more down the pub!! :)
Definitely be looking for a Volvo though!

Do you need a racing license, coveralls etc..? Or can you just sign a disclaimer and rent the helmet, protective clothing etc..?

Just sign up - its independent and not a sanctioned event so no racing license or anything required.

I was wrong - you do need a license. Its included in the price.
We got a special price yesterday because we did the video for them. £400 for everything - including fuel. £66 each. We've picked a 2.0l Zetec Mondeo. Well excited!
