The newest addition

Time for the irregular checkin :)

Still have the MR2, BX's etc, but have now added this to the stable - 1995 GTR R33 V-Spec. Currently running ~600hp (closer to 650) on a T78, have bought a Borg Warner EFR 9180 with plans to run it at closer to 800. Using Adaptronic management on this too (Came with PowerFC but it was a little too basic for me and I'm used to Adaptronic now on the other cars)

Prior to my ownership the car has done 1200KM in the UK, so the body is mint. I had to replace all the water hoses, and things like shock absorbers etc that had gone bad with lack of use.

Ive also fitted water/methanol injection and upgraded the brakepads to Carbone Lorraine. Interior is totally standard and is literally like a new car. It has a cool NISMO dash with an Epson EJ-1 driving computer that can display G-Force etc a bit like the R34 display. Only disadvantage is it shows the redline as 7K instead of 8K, as it was designed for the GTST. Have had people on the skyline owners forum offering me crazy money for it, so I think it's worth hanging on to!

Anyway, a few pics

It's pretty awesome tbh, the grip from the 4wd and torque vectoring rear diff (yes Ford, Nissan were doing it in the 1990s) combined with the rear wheel steering mean it handles like a very modern fast car, definitely doesn't feel like driving something from the era of the cavalier!

Lovely bit of kit, always liked the R33, seem to be much better value than the crazy asking prices for R34s nowadays :yarr:

Nice to see you back also :ptu:

Good to be back!

I did look at R34 briefly but they are overpriced now imo, and the R33 is the faster car still as standard. I wanted to keep some cash for modification and to go towards the house.

Nissan never released the official R34 nurburgring time because it was slower than the R32 and R33 (so the story goes anyway)  so wouldn't have been great for marketing. I also like the curvier look, I think the more angular look of the R34 and to a lesser extent the R32 is a bit too much.

The R34s were dropping to near £25,000 a few years ago, as I was half serious about getting one, then suddenly a rocket was lit up their arses and it just went silly.

Seemingly all late 90s cars have had a boost, though it's ironic that the one major exception appears to be the MR2 turbo, you can still get them very cheap!
