FINALLY DRIVING!
on: October 09, 2006, 14:35:03 PM
woo!! I finally have a car that works!! After passing my test a few months back the car I had lined up failed the MOT in spectacular fashion and so its been ages sorting out a motor. In the end my brother gave me his Rover 414 for free! Ok its not the nicest car by any means but its free and means I no longer have to get lifts or get taxis!

Now if I can just get used to the clutch.........

nice one mate, a nice car too. What year is it?

The clutch does take some getting used to as it is very very light, coupled with the fact the k-series engine loves to rev you are in for a few kangarooing pull offs till you get the hang of it.

Make sure you keep an eye on the coolant levels because if you have a leak and dont notice, you will be in for some expensive bills.

Shut up leon!!

Ok my old car (Volvo 440 1.8, Red) failed the M.O.T on :

Handbreak shot to hell
Brakes - also shot to hell
Emissions - resembling Chernobyl....
Gearbox -  goosed

there were random other things too that I didnt understand - so basically it was cheaper to ditch the car than have it fixed.  Its a shame as I lovd the Volvo - it was like my own personal tank. But the Rovers cool too and at least it works!!!

Is it not? I dont know - what I know about cars I can forget by sneezing....

To be fair it might not have been on the actual MOT list but the guy was quite direct about the fact that it was FUBAR! The point being that it would have cost more to repair the car than the car was worth.

I must sort those pics out tonight!
