xj6 not really worth fixing for the next mot - or more work than i can be arse'd with right now

so I bought an S class to replace it

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-JAGUAR-S-TYPE-RARE-280BHP-V8-Make-a-great-tow-car-/321796840550?nma=true&si=NCG8xVznwI5vbw40V8LF5nFwgLo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

only drove it home, but seams nice so far, silky smooth

:-)

Looks great! My car just sailed through its MOT but I'm still looking to replace it when I have some money saved, I want something with a bit more oomph!

If you want any more oomph, chip it, makes a hell of a difference! :-)

Yes a remap would be an option, i can get it done through customers garages for £150, £200 if i want it done on a rolling road, plus the gent offered dpf removal, egr delete and if i feel really adventurous a bargain price on a hybrid turbo, fmic and a few other mods.

Doing anything past a remap will mean new brakes though and its my repmobile so i don't want to go crazy! A remap is on the cards though

If you need parts i got a tailgate, pair of lights and maybe some doors knocking around, only seen 1 in the yard in 3 years of working there!

new I've driven it a few more times.... I don't like it

I hardly drove it at first after the accident I was in at work so only really drove it this past week

it's too 'soft' suspension is soft, there's no feed back through the steering wheel, leans like a boat around corners, back end has naff all grip - even driving nice and slow/easy the traction control light pops on now and again... it's enough that I haven't had it past 80 because it doesn't feel right/safe/solid enough

plus, it's not up to the same standard as the last Jag... old one is 20 yrs old, but it's serious quality, everything inside feels nice, feels solid, everything is real leather and real wood, the seats are crazy comfortable , the air con is so powerful you can take the car from crazy hot sitting in the sun to ice cold in about 60sec

the new one... the sears aren't as nice/conferrable, the air con is only just ok, lots of the trim is cheap plastic, the wood is obviously fake... it all just feels a bit cheap

and I wouldn't normally care.. it's still a nice car.... but I've been spoiled by the last one, I thought this one being so much newer it would be miles better

as soon as I'm a bit better I'm going to re-MOT is so it has 12 months on it and stick it back on ebay

I think I'll get an xjr instead - the knackered one I bought to take the engine out and put in my camper van is awesome... same quality as my old jag (even better tbh) but is has proper road holding and 450hp supercharged V8 is unberliverble... but at the same time... it's super smooth when you're taking it easy :-)
