Time to enjoy her.....
on: September 25, 2010, 15:12:19 PM
The last two weeks Ive been busy setting up the suspension on my car.

Fitted lowering springs to the front two weeks ago, twice(cocked it up the first time), then did the rears last weekend, also had to fit a new HID ballast(bumper off job  :disappointed: ).  On Tuesday night I fitted a rear strut brace, already got a front one fitted. Yesterday, I re-did the fronts suspension again as I had bought new bump stops and boots.  I also fitted new track rod ends.

Took it for a tracking and geometry set up this morning, £55 to have toe and cambers set as I wanted.  I really want to set the caster too, but standard strut tops wont allow this :(  I think both need replacing anyway, so something to do next year maybe.

Car feels great now, much stiffer than before and gives me far more confidence in the corners, at least in the dry.  8-)

Just gave her a clean too, now I can really enjoy her as it seems the last few weeks have been spent working on her and shes not given much in return.  Also my finger nails have been constantly dirty so would be nice to have them clean for a while.

Next job, refurb my alloys, got a spare set waiting. Then get some decent tyres on the rear.

For now, some pictures.

You make me wish I had bought one of those instead of an FTO.

But alas, there is always the future of car ownership

Looking great, look better when those alloys are refurbed, are you going to get them powder coated a different colour? Id do them black with a red rim

Just thought to add, got a new rear bumper at the body shop getting stripped and resprayed.  Its not got a fog light hole :)

Got a fog light conversion kit to convert the brake lights.  Will look much nicer at the back.

Looks tidy, although personally theres something about the styling that I despise, but I cant put my finger on what it is, tis actually quite annoying...

Ah yes they do sound lush. I love the front, something about the rear, think it may be the angles and proportion of the rear lights to the rear bumper.

Smoked look best on black cars, bright enough when signalling but blend in when you arent.

Especially if theyre obnoxiously large like on a yaris...

I think clear looks a lot more modern and helps make an old car look fresh.

You have to user philips silvervisions or something or it looks like a little egg

Jaimz has a point though, smoked would look really nice, its such a simple mod but makes a huge difference.

Im not usually an FTO fan but walrus looks proper nice, I reckon ridding the egg yolk will be the killer touch

Edit again, maybe smoked then
