Me and missus fancy going to Silverstone for f1 weekend this year so wondered if anyone could offer advice as to were to stay and best place to get tickets for?

We will only be going for the cheap 'general entrance' tickets which let you go to:
Hangar Straight
Stowe
Luffield
Becketts
Vale
Copse Corner

What is the best place to go to? and anyone that has been before what is your advice to get the most out of the weekend?

Also has anyone stayed in the whittlebury silverstone campsite?

cheers

In 2009 we were on cheap day tickets and we sat in Abbey. View was ace because you could see the cars come all the way from Stowe direction, through Vale and round club, past Abbey and onward. Excellent place to be. We were about 10 rows from the front and it still felt really close.

Make sure you take camp/fold outs seats - this is THE most important thing because without them you'll have to stand at the back or sit on the floor and you won't see anything. My brother had (like you) asked on forums and thank god he did or it would have been a nightmare (at Abbey at least). We tied some Jenson Button flags to our chairs to help us find them and were then able to wander off and return to them without them being nicked all day long. Take ear plugs (I didn't - and it hurt!) and if the Porsche GT racing is on as support make sure you watch it - it was by FAR the most entertaining racing to watch.

Oh yeah - get there early if you want a decent spot. We were there at about 6.30am and it was already starting to fill up.

cheers for the advice.

just booked the tickets, camping in the official site so getting there early shouldnt be a prob.
I was thinking camping chairs would be a good idea, are you allowed to take food and drink on?

Absolutely - we took cool boxes with loads of crisps, sarnies, boxes of Umbongo etc.. We didn't take booze we bought a few drinks at the stalls. Not 100% sure if theres a ruling - certainly never got checked or anything.
