Motorbike gear..

A few riders on here im sure, what do you go out in? Full leathers? textiles? or crazy fool shorts and T shirt (seen that a few times).

Im fairly sure leathers offers the most protection but just commuting to work it seems a bit overkill.

What would you guys recommend?

Cheers

I have a single piece for the one day a year I take the ZX10 out - up to the north west 200 and a selection of leather jackets and trousers.

The one piece has a spine protector built in, and I have a couple of OGK helmets for general use and a joey dunlop replica Arai.

Couple pairs of Sidi boots and a pair of alpinestars boots for the KX500

You should never ride in anything but strong protective gear no matter how short the journey

You are going to fall off at least once. Just make sure that you minimise the damage!

 :stupid:

Im more into textiles than leathers though.
I have a Frank Thomas "All Seasons" (more like deep winter tbh) jacket and a Revit Air jacket for the summer.
I also have a couple of pairs of revit trousers, a couple of pairs of Sidi boots, various different gloves and a Shoei lid.

Im planning on buying some Draggin jeans for the summer as my Revits will be too warm and my nuts will cook :o

depends when your riding (season wise)

all year, stick with textiles for winter / rainy spring, just brought an RST jacket and its plenty sturdy enough.
leathers only ever come out when its sunny as theyre too cold rest of the time.

make sure you dont scrimp on boots or gloves as they the other 4 extremes on your body other than your head.

good armoured sidis saved me breaking my ankle twice now,
stops you from twisting your ankle outta shape.

and Marks not wrong about always wearing your gear no matter how short the trip,
sods law is you get knocked off with it sat at home when it could have been helping you avoid messy road rash!!

yeah id never go on a bike not wearing proper gear, probably going to go for textiles then since i feel the cold real easy and theres a chance ill be out in the colder months.

Good boots and gloves, flip face helment and some textile trousers and jacket then for starters im thinking

If youre going to get a flip face lid dont skimp on cost. I was looking into those flip faces for a while and some of the cheaper (random name) brands dont lock into place or have the same level of re-enforcement in the flip.

Your best bet is to find a decent local(ish) retailer who stocks a range of lids and ask them to demo the locking mechanisms on each lid.
