My summer vehicle of choice :)
on: August 02, 2011, 11:51:21 AM
Bought it for the summer but have pretty much fallen in  Wub with it  :ptu: :ptu:

It's a 20 year old Honda Shadow VT600.

I've just had it fully serviced and checked out by a Honda mechanic. He made a few adjustments and replaced the fuel tap and a HT lead cap but apart from that it's in good order :)

That's when I get my "Zed" leathers on ;)

Thought I'd wait to see if I was going to have a "look at this" or a "Check out my project" thread :)

I'm pretty pleased. I spent average for the age (£1k) and have spent about £200 on a full service + a few parts, so nothing too dramatic so far :)

thats a great looking bike, I'm very jealous. I've not had time/spare cash to replace mine since it got stolen, really missing sunday bike day.

I can only imagine as this is the first time I've owned my own bike since having a 125 :o I used to share my Dad's CBF500 but only to keep my hand in.

I scared myself today on the Shadow. Coming off of a fairly strange cambered roundabout I got the nearside footpeg down to tarmac level, suddenly there was grinding of metal and sole of boot on road :s To say I was a little nervous / shocked and then elated would about sum it up :)

Bleh :P

I saw it after one of the commentators on the MotoGP mentioned it. I can't tell you how many times I've watched it since and each time I react the same way:  :w00t:

Yeah, I got my knee down today.

and my ass, elbows, back and chest :/

My first sliding down the road experience wasn't all that pleasant tbh. Just glad it was low speed (< 30) and that I was actually wearing my armoured jacket, jeans and gloves.

For those who want to know:
I went through a patch of diesel/oil whilst braking, the front wheel locked and slid. Before I knew it I was on my ass. Fortunately I've only bruised a finger and thumb, my bike on the other hand is going to need a litte TLC on the scratched chrome :(
