You can get a very nice Mitsubishi FTO for £2,500. You'd be looking at a top spec GPvR/GP version R too.
Very nice cars to drive, albeit, front wheel drive.
On long haul motorway journeys I can get 40mpg from mine. To and from work which is 10 minutes each way, more like 25mpg.
I'd personally steer clear of Hyundai Coupes. Pretty low tech engines and suspension setup. Not supposed to be a very good drive. Heavier than all your 90s Jap counterparts. Also, only 160~bhp from a 2.6 V6, and less than 120bhp from their 2.0l ones!! That's poor when you consider you're in the 200bhp ballpark with a 2l V6 FTO or a Integra/Celica. You should be thinking Jap only
