New car time next year.

(1/8) > >>

Walrusbonzo:
After over eight years of owning two different Mitsubishi FTOs I think the time has come for me to buy another car. I already have a pretty good idea, but I'm wondering if anyone else can think of any other cars that fit my requirements.

 100% required
Rear wheel drive
250~bhp+
Not a rotary engine
Not convertible
Either manual or auto with paddle shifters. Definitely do not want a full auto.

Preferable
Japanese
2 seater
Purpose built coupe chassis
Under £15,000
Under 50,000 miles
Less than 6 years old (I think I would prefer something a little more modern than my very 90s FTO, and avoid rot)

So far my short list is Nissan 370z and BMW M1/M3(If I can find one that fits the requirements), and that's it. I imagine Porsche Boxters may fit in this requirements list, but know very little about them and expect maintenance costs to be bad. I suspect the Nissan wouldn't be. I had originally considered Honda S2000, but they're not coupes, and neither are BMW Z4s :(

Any other ideas? Thanks..... I remember it was someone here that suggested FTOs all them years ago :)

BMW E92 335D M-Sport Highline

5.5 Seconds 0-60 when mapped
With a Switchable map you still get good MPG
350-360 mapped BHP with 540lb of torque, this is comparable to a Dodge Viper SRT which has an 8.4 litre V10 Engine
Always go for an auto when mapping as the gearboxes are stronger than manuals
38 MPG when mapped

If you go non M-Sport you might get a better deal, but you need M-Sport for the look, i would buy a 5 door though as they are a far bit cheaper.

You could get that for 16k and its 2012

Anybody that knows these cars will still tell you nice car when they see it, i had a 330d M-Sport it amazes me how many people knew what it was, it was badged as a 318 for fun!

does it also need to be cryogenically cooled?

Nice idea, but probably should have said that I don't want a big diesel.

Do these "auto" BMWs have paddle shifters?

I should probably say also, I don't care for practicality (Though a boot big enough for a set of gold clubs would be nice), fuel economy or having space in the back for passengers. I walk to work, so whatever I buy willl get used rarely and probably do only 4,000 miles a year. It's basically just for fun at the weekend.

Bacon:
In this generation / price range around 2010-2012 the diesel product as much power as the petrol engines with a mild map due to the Turbos but here is a petrol example, i would still go diesel all day for effect :D
