New weekend project, another citroen!
on: May 22, 2013, 01:10:30 AM
Been on the lookout for another project for when the BX is finished imminently, and when another local car forum member let me know this was sitting looking a new owner I went to look at it and picked it up there on Saturday.

She needs a bit of work to get it back to scratch - fix drivers seat, bit of rot on the floor/chassis at front drivers side, rear suspension has collapsed and going to rebuild the engine with new rings, stem seals, throttle bodies, Emerald ECU and GTi-6 manifold which I've already ordered. I was going to put it to total standard but I think it needs about 200hp to leave it sitting right.

Should be a great wee yoke when done

Just towed home by the mighty volvo

In the queue for the garage beside the scimitar

Shes well low. Body is in decent order

The engine, soon to be headless for a few days and rebuilt fully with new rings, seals and bearings

I know you have this infatuation with Citroens, but what would you say is the most fun/interesting non-citroen car you've ever souped up?

is 200hp easy out of one of those ? surprised you can get there without needing more substantial mods...

My first car was a ZX Volcane 1.9i, bloody loved it. The 2.0i wasnt a 'volcane' spec was it? I know the Peugot 2.0 MI 16 engine can be dropped straight into these.

Will be interested to see what you can get out of her.

Its a very similar engine to the old XU9J4 in the early 405 Mi16 and BX 16V, which can see around 185hp with only throttle bodies. 200hp out of these isn't that difficult. It'll need a set of cams as well. Helps that the engine will be rebuilt to basically brand new.

This is the same engine as the later Mi16 had, with a few subtle differences. Good bit quicker than the volcane. This is the 16V, there were only about 300 of them sold in the UK.

The MR2 without a doubt! Still is no. 1 in the pecking order
