Title: NOT getting another Fiat.
Post by: Serious on July 20, 2019, 00:46:42 AM
My Bro has decided to go a bit up market for a new car. Instead of the usual Panda the next one is going to be an  INFINITI QX30

2.2 litre diesel, 4 wheel drive.

Still not perfect, could be better fuel economy, but bigger and actually suits my back. Only reason we stuck with Pandas was my fibromyalgia and arthritis pain.

I don't think you can really go wrong with an Infiniti, lovely cars.

Despite being bought new it's the old design from 2017-18, still a ~£29K list car....

Infiniti is Nissan's Luxury brand, made in *cough* Sunderland *cough*. Well there HAD to be a downside :P  The QX30 is a modified Mercedes-Benz  GLA with Nissan improved 7-speed DCT automatic. Following the relatively light Panda it is a heck of a step up in quality. The smaller windows make it feel a tiny bit claustrophobic, a bit tank like, and a lot more protective.

And he got it for Under £17K....  :ptu: :ptu: :ptu:

If it has a Nissan engine it should be reliable.

Parts will main dealer or used, no pattern parts, I wouldn’t recommend buying one, stay away from
niche cars.

Bacon, I think you missed something.

The Infiniti brand might not be known much in Britain but it is in the USA and EU.

"the Q30/QX30 duo that ride on the third generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class platform."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infiniti

So if you want to call the Mercedes-Benz A-Class niche I'm fine with that.

Serious

It doesn’t mean all parts will be interchangeable, both companies will have different part numbers for the same parts.

To me a niche car is one that is not popular enough for Chinese pattern part companies to make parts for.

I don’t know anything I just worked in scrappy for nearly 10 years.

He does not keep cars for more than 4 years, so unlikely to be a problem anyway.

I have no overall say anyway, it's his money, his car.

He bought it before I put up the initial post, so I guess we will see how it goes. So far very well
