Not running a brake isnt tough, its dumb. Especially when youve got a front disc already in place. However, the terrain of the race may have made it not a big deal. :P

Fixed can be good for when you need to do a quick trackstand before picking a line, but the chance of pedalstriking when out in the jungle just seems way too likely.

Guy in my hood races fixed cxcross, btw, but the courses arent as gnarly.

its dumb if it puts others at risk, but its a race, so no cars or pedestrians, fair play to the lad, he finished way up the field, just behind the pro/elite.

Its just posturing though. Hes got the disc already mounted. Probably broke his piston and is playing the poseur, but secretly going "OH SHIIIIIIIT!"

to be honest, to do as well as he has done, with that setup, shows hes used to it and is very proficient at riding a fixer with no brakes, i mean he was well up near the front, theres no way youd catch me trying that...

the nearest youll see to that is Treks 29" front wheel and 26" rear wheel bike, which won the world SS champs - you get the bump absorbing properties of a 29" wheel etc. on the front but the accelaration of a 26" wheel on the back...
