Not running a brake isnt tough, its dumb. Especially when youve got a front disc already in place. However, the terrain of the race may have made it not a big deal.
Fixed can be good for when you need to do a quick trackstand before picking a line, but the chance of pedalstriking when out in the jungle just seems way too likely.
Guy in my hood races fixed cxcross, btw, but the courses arent as gnarly.
