in winter weather owners seem to think they can plough through snow better not realising the wide tyres leave them less braking effort and easier to slide out of control, they aquaplane like mad due to the tyre width

Yes but not all drivers are as uneducated, and yes the tyres are wide but then most sports cars tyres are pretty damn wide to.

I was sitting behind a 911 turbo today and each tyre looked like 1/4 a width of the back of the car

Yes i know that so take it easy to avoid problems in standing water and snow, but as Mark said, a lot of 4x4 owners think they are invincible behind the wheel

Yes many 4x4 drivers they such good grip but if it starts to skid it has no better grip than any other car but is very different to steer out of than with 2 wheel drive rear or front. One needs to practice a lot to be able to handle a 4x4
in such situations.

But its FUNNY driving between Preston and Blackburn in the snow.  Youll usually see 2 cars a day in the bushes, and at least one if not both will be a 4x4.
