Fog lights
on: December 14, 2009, 18:01:17 PM
Its that time of the year again when the muppets who dont know what fog lights are for are out in force.

Does anyone else feel the need to either kick the fogs in or put their own headlights on full beam in return?

No, I tend to swerve towards them.

When I had the delica and my full light array, they used to get switched on.

Remember children.  Its Fogs below the bumper, and driving lamps above.

Does that mean youre one of the people with them on, bearing in mind its illegal to drive with them on if visibility is not below 100m?

I have a feeling its the red rear hi intensity lights Zpyder is talking about, but of course its equally illegal to use the front ones as well, as so many fannies do year round.

I was joking :p

I flash my fog lights at those cars that have them on, when they dont need them

front fogs are illegal when visibility is >100m. I dont think rear fogs are illegal at any visibility range.
However, the fogs on my car will only come on front first, then rear. Seems a bit strange

which apparently is from Section 25 of the Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1978

My Mondeo did the same with the front fogs first, stupid really, but not as dumb as my Insignia, which switches on full beam when you turn the rear fogs off.

Nope, both sets are illegal if vis is above 100m, as Ceathreamhnan pointed out. AFAIK the rear ones are illegal as they often mask the brake lights, resulting in people not seeing people braking and more rear-end shunts. The front ones I think are to do with many of them being undirected and often dazzling oncoming traffic. Whats odd is that in my old micra it used to be the rear lights first then rear+front.

Nope its the front ones that annoy me. I find the argument of them helping show things up in the road pointless as most people manage to make do without them, and it cracks me up as the kind of people that drive with them on tend to be the ones that think theyre good drivers.

Yellow lights are fantastic.  I had them on my Delica.
Cut through Fog/Snow with ease, and non dazzling.

The fact remains; if you drive with fogs etc when its not needed, youre a chav.
