7yr old peugeot, 531 professional frame (with chrome rear stay ends), full shimano 105 gruppo, mavic Open4CD rims on 105 hubs, look pedals.  Its in really really really nice condition too.

Whole lot (including getting the guy to drive 2hrs to deliver it) for £80.  Tasty!  Although now hell definately be faster than me

Gah! Just the rear wheel is worth that.

Its been a lousy day for temptation from the frenchies. Just saw a barn fresh circa 80 Motobecane on Usenet, complete with the pleather bar covering.

I need a classic road bike methinks.

That bike would have sold around here easily for $500. Plus, as its 8 speed (I think) parts are dirt cheap. Run a 14-26 cluster on it, and youre only missing a couple small cogs that mortals rarely use on the 10spd kit.

Apparently it was £1000 new.  I think (not sure though) its a 7spd though...

I told him the wheels were worth more than he paid

7 speed is nice, as long as you get the right cluster back there. Just overhauled a 7 speed. Theyre delightfully non fussy to adjust, and you can get cassettes for $15 and chains for $10. I ran 1st generation 105 7 speed, its great stuff--very durable as well.
