Ep 2 sucked imo. Cant believe they took apart a chimera to make a POS electric car, even if it did look a bit battered.

I thought it was a great car, considering it had a 6k budget, but granted it looked sh*t, if it had been done by a true mechanic im sure he would have tidied it up a bit.

I am however shocked how they can get away with driving it on the road with patio chairs...plastic patio chairs.

Pah patio chairs are safe, i regularly use a vehicle thats capable of over 140mph and all i have is a piece of leather covered foam and no belt at all.

Itd be interesting to see the behind the scenes stuff to see just how many safety checks are made etc. Even things like when they let it roll down the hill theyd probably spend an hour or two with high vis jackets to make sure the path is clear etc? :D

Actually from a legal point of view, im certain a non fastened plastic patio chair would fail the MOT, the only time i have seen a car pass an MOT that seemed dodgy, was an really old car with seats that reclined without any locking mechanism, but then it had no seatbelts either, but its age related afaik and the car on Top Gear was an L reg? 1994.

maybe they can get permission to drive if they have a car in front of it and a car behind it ?  flashy lights etc... stunt/fake drivers etc...  just some clever camera angles to hide it ?

Are you kidding, that was one of most low key yet entertaining episodes Ive seen a while.  I cant remember the last time I chuckled so much at an episode of TG.

Question is what is the music playing in the tunnel segment this week? I was trying to place it as Im fairly sure its been used in some FPS game or similar, and likely elsewhere too.

There were a few other tracks in last nights ep I was trying to place too, its a shame they dont list the music at the end in the credits, usually I can recognise the tunes as its 9/10 something I like/have on the computer!

EDIT:

HAha, I answered my own Q. It was music from Gears of War! No wonder it seemed so familiar, though I kept thinking it was Crysis ><

Now I just want to know what was playing in the Rangerover clips, sounded a bit like Hive or something...

That Overfinch Holland & Holland Range rover was possibly the most desireable vehicle ive ever seen.

More links, info and pics here. I really enjoyed the episode, think it could have done without the airport races, didnt seem to be much need or reason for it.

I really liked Jezs review, think they could get away with more ~proper reviews like that.

You see, I like the episodes which have more non-car stuff. I tend to go and put the kettle on whenever theyre doing laps. As far as I am concerned regarding most of the cars, sure theyre interesting to look at, and things like the two-way screen in last nights ep are amazing, but beyond that I know Ill likely never even see one of these cars IRL, let alone be able to sit in one, or even ever earn the money needed to buy one, plus the realist in me sees them as a waste of money considering the consumption and insurance etc to go with, but all that aside its an interesting and foremost entertaining show. If they increased the car stuff and decreased the entertainment Id probably stop watching...

Yeah that was cool :)

The rest, rubbish, the crap race at the start that they have done countless times before.

The crap review at the end of the Twingo was just laced with too much recycled humour, it has some interesting bits I guess.

The sh*te tunnel flip stunt (that Im guessing like most things on top gear is fake) the sh*te driving a car into the channel stunt, yes that wasnt predictable honest...

In a nutshell I think they need to stop being too funny, its not working.
