I found the episode entertaining overall, but like Matt Im finding its starting to wear a bit thin now and proving far too formulaic. Tried and tested only goes so far.

They could try the old trick of not making so many and pace the show out more, cut back to 6 episodes a year, 3 at the start, 3 at the end.

its not as good as it used to be but it is still the only thing I make a point of watching.

This sundays special sounds promising.

Theyve redeemed the failing quality of this last series with one amazing special. I think that was their last high note now, theyll never produce a special of that magnitude and quality again, and the reglar eps will only get worse I think. Probably time to pull the plug and come out gracefully or come up with a new creative direction for the regular shows.

yeah it was good.....   it was still a  bit more rehearsed than the old ones used to be tho.... pulling over and pretending to make decisions theyd obv. already made off camera...

oh... and did anyone else spot the stunt man driver ?  only saw him for a split sec.... odd they let it through for TV.... maybe its a publicity stunt ?
(the bit where Jeremy is driving alone, and has to pass another 4x4 coming the other way.... the white one)

I didnt think it was that good, compared to the likes of the vietnam special.

But then I didnt know how much of me not liking the ep that much was me grimacing with the destruction of the rainforest at the start, no matter how small...

That was quite obviously done on purpose I think too, just the way Jeremy would want to wind up environmentalists.

Was it really? I never noticed, even on the closeup as the rocks started slipping it looked like Jeremy.

it was a very good ep, not as good as some of the specials like the USA and Vietnam ones but cant expect too much, apparently they have had their budget more than halved.

It was crazy when he was squeezing past the White 4x4 on that mountain.

I think there was quite alot of staged stuff in it, well hidden though.

No way they built that bridge themselves.
No way they fixed/modded the cars themselves.
And Hammond let his car roll down the hill on purpose, must have been a H&S issue with only 2wheel drive.

That was small fry though - that stuff will grow back quickly.

You want to see the mess the locals make of the place. Disgraceful.

Oh believe me I know. In the scheme of things if it was just them doing that damage, it would actually be beneficial in a way, acting the same way as when trees fall in the rainforest, providing light for other plants to grow. The damage they caused was less than some of the damage made to harvest a single tree Id imagine in some cases. I just felt uncomfortable watching it thinking it wasnt exactly required...
