Title: w00t! New rack!
Post by: maximusotter on March 28, 2006, 22:51:31 PM
OK, its pretty dorky to get excited about a bike rack, but I had to special order one because of my disc brakes. The guy at the shop tried to push some pussilanimous post mounted jobber at me, and I  told him no, I wanted the uberest capacity in all of Butcher Holler.

So it ended up being an Axiom Journey...with a 110pound capacity. Thats 50kg for you metric types.

A manly mans rack.

Going to pick it up right now...bye!

ello, Gregski. I know its you behind that jumble of letters. :D

Took "only" two hours to install. Had to reshape all the mudguard struts and hacksaw the seatstay mounts and do a little fabrication. Fenders + rack + discs = just a little complicated. Unlike most racks, all mount points save the one by the mech dropout, had hardware which was adjustable in 3 axes. Wiggly woobly and rubixy. All done and quite impressed with myself. :P

Dumb thing came just like in the pic, which was ever so confusing:

The little arm strut assembly is supposed to be mounted on the inside. Thats what took me an hour to wrap my brain around. Almost resorted to a tacky p-clamp.
