With some less aggressive tires, its a classic geometry that can do path, street, or whatever. If its got really aggro tread right now, its not needed on even dirt paths, and just adds squirm and noise. Not saying to go slick, but you can civilize such a bike with the proper rubber:

BUT, as nice of a frame as the Orange is, youre getting used componentry. How much life are left on the chain, chainrings, and cassette? Do the brake shoes need replacing? Will you ever want to mount mudguards or a rear carrier? Will you be satisfied with the discomfort of flat bars for road riding?
Would I ride the Orange? Hell yeah, if I was doing some rougher stuff, as its indeed a classic HT, but Id find it a bit lacking out of the box for what youre mentioning. Tires, bars or barends can tame it though. You can also get a brand new hybrid bike, with all new consumables for that price. Such a bike might not have the cool cred of the Orange, but will be more versatile if you want to mount certain sorts of accessories.
So thats my bit of perspective. Not yeah, or nay. Just that its easy, just like cars, to get blinders when youre riding or driving something thats new to you.
