Title: Your Vehicle History
Post by: addictweb on May 05, 2006, 18:13:33 PM
Thought this might be interesting. What has been your history of vehicles (perhaps with a brief note on why you changed).

Mine:

Suzuki SS50
(http://members.ld.infoseek.co.jp/meguro_works/event-8a.files/ss50-1.jpg)
Was unrestricted/bored out to 120cc first vehicle.

Suzuki Gn250
(http://www.mcpoolen.se/images/mc-suzuki-99-gn250-svart.gif)
Stepping stone, wasnt fast enough.

Suzuki Bandit 400
(http://www.ibike.com.hk/01_bike_report/local/suzuki/previous_95bandit400v/9500_bandit400v_22k.jpg)
First restrited then unrestricted, upgraded when my licence became full.

Citroen ZX Volcane 1.9i J reg (First Car)
Someone ran into me in Cardiff, first and best car i owned.

Suzuki Banditt 600
(http://www.coches-motos.com/picmotos/moto575942668.jpg)
Great bike, so happy, got stolen last year!

Citroen BX Estate
(http://www.citroenet.org.uk/passenger-cars/psa/bx/images/bxdyana3.jpg)
Very temporary car, got run into again, in cardiff.

Ford Escort
(http://imgs.idnes.cz/auto_ojetiny/A030219_SID_1ESC350_V.JPG)
Current Car, its just reliable and cheap.

Thats me, and im only just 21. Not a great record.

1st car:
was a 1996 Hyundai Accent. 1.3

My 2nd car, a bit quicker! (and like an A-Bomb, on the wallet!)
1997 Mazda MX-3 1.8

And my current wagon:
as you can see, an 02 plate Yaris T-Sport. not quite as fast, same insurance group as my 1st car

Liked my MX-3, I really did. fantastic to drive, and 6 cylinder engine. Yaris is 70% of the fun and easily less than 50% of the cost

</ edit>
none of these cars are mine BTW as ive never taken pics of my cars.  I can find pics from Google Earth of the Atra LXI and the GTE parked next to each other though :D
few others, had a GTE that i ran for a few years, but it lasted between about the metro and the Renault.  It seemed to spend half its time being fixed though.  Couple of escorts at cheapy auction fodder to last me a few weeks each.  Cant remember much else but ive likely forgotten something.  People point out cars and go "That looks like the one you used to have" I actually forgot i had owned the 1.5 Golf at one point until someone reminded me about it.

In light of all of these cars, Im almost embarrased to say that Im still using the very first car that I bought three years ago.

Unless something goes really disastrously wrong with it, Im keeping for the foreseable future too

And why not!
Good dependable car, if a little heavy.

Ive got my eye on either something Low and Sporty next (200sx, 300zx) or something bigass (HiLux/KingCab) something along those lines.  But not yet.

Ford Fiesta 1.1. good first car, but had a rust problem.
Ford Fiesta 1.3. really good car my sister had it after me for a few years.
Citroen AX GTI. loved it! but it got nicked.
Renault 5 Gordini Turbo. a classic! sold it for more than I paid for it lol. with hindsight wish I had kept hold of it. maybe got a lock-up to store it in.
Renault 5 GT Turbo. a lot of fun but needed to get a bigger car.
Renault 21 Turbo. very fast and very expensive to run and maintain.
Ford Mondeo 2.0. nice on the motorway but I found it hard work round town.
Ford Focus 2.0. loved it!  could batter most of the chavs in there Novas with it :D IMO very good sleeper car, but had a drink problem if my right foot was a bit heavy.
Ford Focus 1.6. underpowered, gutless!!! only car I have regretted getting should have kept the car above tbh.

Next car will be a new Golf GTI :D when? I dont know :(

1. 1972 VW Beetle (hit head on by a drunk driver)
2. 1974 VW Beetle (fully restored and sold for a huge profit)
3. 1986 Toyota Celica GT (Great car!  Had to sell it since my three large dogs could not fit in it.  My sister-in-laws ex-boyfriend bought it from me and is still driving it)
4. 1997 Toyota RAV-4 (My current car.  Very reliable!)

Before:

After:

I loved that car, 88hp from a 2.0L 8V Renault engine. It would keep on going and going, the only thing that took it out of action was a burst tyre that send me into the wall and grass verge moving the chassis about 3cm to the right.

Id have one anyday. Comfotable cars, can pull or push anything, strong, TONS of space and nobody wants to nick them.

My car now, I dont have pics of the car. But this is the closest I can find (http://forum.rally.no/temp/bilsalg/pug106rallye.jpg)
