Interesting :)

Looking forward to seeing some pricing.

So its got 6 internal SATA300 and 2 e-SATAs? Which audio chipset is it using, does it encode to Dolby Digital Live or the DTS equivalent?

Mr Abit, why do your good people insist on putting the RAM slots so close to the PCI-E slot?

With my IP35 Pro XE My graphics card is having to sit in the 2nd PCI-E slot at 4x as the heatsink interferes with the RAM slots sadly. I could blame Sapphire for their awkward fanless heatsink design I guess, but Im sure this must be a common issue.

Yup, blame Sapphire!!!

I know it is a little bit close but from my experience there will always be a couple of cards that make this awkward, like there will always be a couple of coolers that wont fit when board manufacturers decvide to use silent/heat pipe.

Which Sapphire card are you using?

Which memory?

(Just for my records)

Regards

Nathan

Blame the system builder for not picking appropriate components.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

:P

My fault I guess for buying the card without seeing it and assuming it would fit. :)

The Sapphire card is the Sapphire HD 3870.

The memory is Corsair Dominator 4Gb 8500 - Twin2X-4096-8500C5DF.

I know this is meant as a joke.

With regards to sizing of products:

On a serious note, how does the consumer know which product will fit, afaik hardly any of the manufacturers supply sizing info on their websites, and none if any retail sites supply this information either.

And some of us live so far away from any store that could be considered decent, that there is literally no way for me to drop by. Sure you can say ring the sales team, but without being funny chances are you wont obtain this information from approaching a regular store. When Vini was working at tek well that was a different story, he was on the ball, with regards to anwsering questions. (The same as im sure Kris would, being on the ball also, but i mean with regards to approaching any other store thats not linked to the forums).

Failing this you can approach the manufacturer, but why should a consumer have to. In todays market i think "research" should take care of this, as its a frequent issue these days.

Sounds like thats what Nathan is doing here with clockeds comments.

Would be handy if there was a knowledge base of "known incompatible/troublesome" products.

I dont think compatibility is an issue as the major components are taken care of with cpu compatibility lists and the likes of.

The real issue here is the same for all, it is these double length graphics cards that I have seen in the 8800 and 3*** series and the double width ones have their issues with PCI slots as 99% of slots are all placed in the same postion as the next brand.

I am not passing the buck or blaming anyone but I agree with "research" and I think anyone paying out for top of the range components should check each and every aspect of each component on sites such as this, I am probably going to pay fo rthat comment, not just on this link but ifmy wife sees it she will kill me because if I want it, im buying it....No idea what is does, but i want it !!!!

I am off to buy a Hummer, I just hope it fits in my garage :-)
