Im thoroughly dissapointed with it, Its the most pointless thing I could of think off when I asked myself what I wouldnt want them to do with it.  But oh yes, its a giant Ipod Touch with a tweaked OS and apps on steroids.

I dont understand the hype? There have been tablets since the 1990s.

Well, essentially there have been tablets since the 1970s

Meh, that is what I thought. I looks great, really cool tech, Really nice gadget but Nah.
Not enough storage space, No camera, 3G stuff is meh and the cost is meh.

3rd version will be really cool and if you not got laptop/smartphone combo then this is something you should really look at. I think some of the pc based ones coming are and will do a better job.

All the "its light" they keep saying made me laugh. The first hands on by people like engadget and they all say it is heavier then they thought it would be. It probably is the weight it would expectantly be along with other similar devices but the label apple put on it giving people the wrong impression.

Light weight and relatively low price might make a difference. Main questions are connectivity, memory and processing power, get those right and the price and they will sell fast. Heck, I might even buy one.

They did not nail it though :(
Very nearly, 3rd gen will be something worth thinking about getting.

No multitasking ... at all.
No flash.
No USB.
No proper OS (iphone 3.2)
No built in stand.
No keyboard.
Not small enought to carry every day.
Not powerful enough to take on holiday.
No 3G on cheaper models.

No thanks.

Its a tablet they do not have keyboards. And your wrong here though. You can get a dock and it works with any apple keyboard and has the on screen touch keyboard pop up when you need it.
Stand - Daft to see these on these things, they do not need it built in.
No 3G on cheaper models is not a thing to moan about
Not small enough to carry? The cases at least for it like folders are very nice and certainly something you can carry around very easily.

All the other stuff and other issues are dam right about but those bits are wrong to gripe about.

No, it is a label media have put on it. It is to get into the market after the announcement by PC based vendors of tablets coming out soon and to pip them at the post. Acer, HP and a couple of others look very apple like, very nice, windows based and come with a hell of a lot more and all multi-touch as well.

This is going to make me look like a tool, but whats the point of tablets? Surely a laptop is always going to be better? Or even the iphone for some things?

The graphic/touch screen ability. So for people like me doing surveys in the field its not practical to have a laptop and mouse etc, but if I could use a stylus to sketch survey areas on a tablet, thatd be cool.
