Thanks guys, it was more the fact that it was a tactical zombie survival shooter that made it so interesting rahter than being something free to play, I think it might be worth waiting for the Arma 3 version then and see how that fares as to whether its worth purchasing. I wonder how many people bought Half Life purely for Counter Strike back in the day?
I've played it for a few hours over a week or so. It's fun, but unfortunately until they sort out direct comms properly (voice chat, proximity based) trying to get anywhere in it is ridiculously hard. You'll find yourself killed a heap of times trying to get out of bean wars (spawn near the coast, people fight over tins of beans to eat).
Zombies are glitchy bastards and will hit you through solid walls.
Trees and other inanimate objects can kill you (crush) at random.
Your character will spack out at the top of a ladder and leave you with broken legs in a pile of zombies at the bottom of said ladder.
Oh and first... You and your buddies have to find each other in a game where everyone looks the same and the rule generally is "kill everything", there is no such thing as spawning together you could be a full 30+ minute trudge across hostile ground before you meet, that's 30+ minutes of trying to live solo while meeting up with a mate to play together.
Cold can kill you
Hunger can kill you
Thirst can kill you
Loss of blood can kill you
Friends will kill you
Others will try to kill you
Zombies will kill you even if you're in a tank....flying through the sky.
Trees will kill you
Walls are also lethal
Rocks can kill you
The ground can kill you
Infection can annoy the tits off of you
Pain is possibly the most annoying side effect anyone has implemented in a game and will annoy the tits off of you especially when you can't find bloody painkillers
So yeah other than it be a massively annoying game with so many bugs and not really conducive to multiplayer coop play between friends, it's cool.
