Ive been searching for info on quite versions of this card and i have come across 3 cards which seem to run at low noise levels, im just after some opinions before i decide.

Sapphire HD3870 toxic

Powercolor HD3870 PCS

HIS HD3870

Kunal has a very similar HTPC setup to the one i am building and has the Powercolor card, i would just like to have others opinions before i buy.

I would look at Nvidia but i doubt the onboard HDMI would work on my mobo with a card in the PCI-ex16 slot and i want sound over HDMI.

Thanks.

If an through preference I would go for the sapphire card.

However for £135 you can buy an Asus 3870 XT with a 3 Year Warranty from overclockers. All the reviews come up as outstanding. There are quieter cards admitedly however this is still fairly quiet.

Another card to consider is the Gigabyte HD3870 Pro which is £110 and once again has outstanding reviews. The gigabyte card however has a silent cooler and I can confirm this as I have one and it is almost whisper silent (it does take up two slots though).

Thanks for that but im after the sapphire one due to the space the powercolor one takes up, it looks like 3 slots to me from this link.
