I fall somewhere in the middle of the two but more towards recommended with my E8400 and 1Gb 6870.

20Gb of HDD though?? WTF. To think some people said no one would need Tb HDDs...

If my old rig can run Deus Ex HR at full-chat then there's hope yet for this one.

That is not to bad to be fair.
I think everyone saw Crisis and new you could do awesome things but optimisation and clever stuff so it ran well is always important.
I think two cards in SLI and a decent modern spec and your sweet. And that is not to bad.

All minimum here, (my CPU is slightly better), though I haven’t upgraded in a while and the next time I do it will have to be a completely new build.

I also read to run higher/highest settings we are talking about Dual 580s in SLI!

Unfortunately, its still Origin and not Steam, and tbh i don't want to install a new piece of software for every game i buy.

Some other issues that have put me off:

Right now it takes a while to find a game, and once you find a slot on a server, it takes just as long to actually enter the game. To adjust the game's settings you need to be in a game—and alive. This makes it very easy to be killed while you're fiddling with resolutions, and I can't think of a good reason for this particular limitation.

There is nothing about Battlelog that is either user friendly or speedy in this beta; it is rough around the edges. But all is forgiven once you jump into the core game.

I'm reluctant to install Orgin, I'm happy with steam and having my games in one place... but really it doesn't look like we will have much choice with BF3, Old Republic and Mass Effect 3 being exclusive on it :(

We will wait and see what happens with BF3 launch, if they don't hit expected targets i reckon we will see a new deal between EA and Steam, its just seems to me that EA don't want to share the pie and they are forgetting who helped them bake it.

BTW if you've ever used the EA Download Manager for any games, this is what is now Origin, so it will auto-update when you next use it.

That is the thing, if you played a number of EA games it is no different to what it used to do. Origin is just the re-brand to make it sound more then it is. No servers on the beta is a good thing, just so many people wanting to play this will be a hit. There are some bugs and the Call of duty style map is the one most can only play, I do not know why because as you can see in the other video, the outdoor maps look AMAZING!

I just upgrade my EA Download Manager (I got it last year when I downloaded Burnout Paradise for free) and the new Origin client seems fine and very lightweight actually, lighter than Steam. Load up, choose a username/avatar Blizzard style, choose how to be contactable by friends trying to connect then you're done.

It is not a steam, it is made to be more like the blizzard app your right. I have played MMO's for a long time so this is no skin off my nose.

Its not the fact its EA or a crap program, I just like having all my games in steam... it just makes things easier and neater :)

Really am glad I played this beta, took it straight off the buy list, looks pretty but just not for me :)

Any reasons in particular?

It looks to me from what I've seen so far like it is going to suffer the same problems as BF2, i.e vehicle spawn campers, snipers and complete n00bs.

I fell into the latter , it looks pretty but it's not my type of game anymore, FPS is pretty much lowest common denominator imo.

Yes also tons of snipers just camping in groups (this was from a mere 2 games!) just not fun at all, maybe some of the other maps are better but tbh I don't feel like paying to try them :)

Yeah I figured that would be the case with it, the massive and beautiful looking 64 player maps are the only genuine thing I can see giving this a long lasting appeal compared to the dozens of other FPS shooters. When I say complete n00bs, I don't really mean the average play for people of spawn, make a bit of progress and get uber-sniped, bombed or knifed in the back by some fat, basement-locked veteran thats been playing for 32 hours straight. I mean the ones that will join a game and generally just grief though their inability to do anything at all, like to steal a vehicle and crash it and die instantly, or run straight for a plane and then crash it into teammates like a knob.

I don't think sniping is made nearly hard enough in games to be honest, weapons have a fair representation of recoil but sniping is often so easy you can point and shoot in an instant without any bob or need to steady, which is nothing like real sniper and allows them to top the server charts and infuriate everyone else.

I don't really like sniping in FPS games, I much prefer duking it out with people face to face, so if I'm playing Team Fortress or the like and a sniper starts gunning everyone down, I'll switch to it myself and make it my business to take them out and set an example (more often than not I'll succeed too). ;D

Didn't you know, they won't let anyone film it at conventions unless they are preapproved and short of actually curtailing the right of free speech are doing everything they can to prevent anyone saying anything negative about the game. It's pretty pathetic really.

It is EA though not DICE. As a Developer I bet they are just as annoyed as us.
It is quite simple, EA's last attempt to topple Call of Duty was with their updated Medal of honor franchise of which Dice did some of multiplayer stuff for them. It flopped. They really want this to take some of the wind out of Activision and this game has the ability to do that. Yeah for us we can see right through them but for their marketing plan they are running a tight ship.

As a company I can understand why, but it does suck donkey balls.
