Im really after an all-in-one solution that will let me archive all messages older than x weeks and then delete them.

Ive found a couple of apps thatll do the archiving. The one I am currently using (SMS Backup) only supports SMS messages but it uploads them to GMail as individual "emails" which is nice for being able to search them.
I could really do with this exact functionality with the inclusion of MMS. I have a lot of design pictures on my phone that I really need to backup :/

Ive also found an app that can do the deletion but its a little flaky (SMS Cleaner Free).

I know I could write my own but Im wondering if theres anything out there that does this already as Id much rather pay (maybe $10) than spend my time developing it !

Im guessing this helps on performance? Id not noticed too much of a drop, but if you find a solution let us know as it sounds handy :D

Roger, roger :)

I noticed that Handcent was getting a little laggy and when I dug a little deeper (checked my Wavesecure backup), I noticed I had over 1600 messages in the handsets database !

Im going to have a bit more of a poke around but I think I might just write my own (or sell the idea to Sam lol).

Ok, Ive penned something but seeing as this might be a paid for app I think itd be best to not post the full details on the web (just yet).

Sam youve got a PM.
