^ I dont think youre playing Black-Ops Eagle :s

PC and Consoles are not mixed. The PC version has dedicated servers whilst consoles still rely on  P2P hosting; no way youll ever get them mixed on the same server.

The XBox patch may have just done enough to keep me involved. I was getting frustrated with the crappy party lobby handling, shoddy host selection and shocking in game lag. Last nights patch seems to have solved those problems. I can now get into games with my m8s, first time ! And my "last 10 games" stats show a marked score and K:D improvement (scord around 290ppm, 2.2 K:D) which tells me that the lag is fixed.

WTF is with the party/lobby/matchmaking in this game? I have never had problems with MW2 and rarely played without my buddies alongside me, but in Blops I have yet to get into a game with my party. I can join/be added fine, but then when the party joins a game I get booted out. Cue lots of swearing and severe annoyance.

When the 1st patch came out, I noticed it is much quicker to join a party, but I am still getting booted once a game is joined. After being booted, I cannot rejoin the game, through invite or through my friend list.

I also have problems playing on my own, getting disconnected errors and host not found errors probably 1 in 3 games/lobbies.

How can Treyarch mess this up, when MW2 had the whole party/matchmaking system down to a tee? Why would Treyarch not keep a system that is in no way flawed? Party play is at least 50% of my enjoyment when it comes to COD, and this situation is VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

:rage:

Are you playing on a PC or XBox ?

Ive not had any problems since the patch on my 360. Last night I was quite happily in a 4 person party and we had no problems getting games / moving between games :s

If youre on a XBox Id suggest you all do a NAT check and make sure your entire party have OPEN NAT. Oh and makes sure that youve all got the additional ports that Blops on the Xbox needs open: UDP 33233 and UDP 22728

Since the last patch its awful for me on the PS3, moreso when it get busier in the evening. Lots of freezes unfortunately, and the matchmaking seems to be a bit patchy at times.

Do you guys have all the necessary ports forwarded to your PS3s ?

PlayStation 3 - TCP [80, 81, 443, 3074, 5223] UDP [3074, 3075, 3478]

I know this sounds stupid but until Blops, XBox Live! only used ports 88 and 3074. I dont know about the PSN though.

So they listened to us after all, the lack of dedicated server support was the main reason I never got MW2.

Did you try this to see if it helped?

Ive never ever had to forward any ports with the PS3 before and its a pain in the arse faffing with port forwarding on the Netgear control panel so if it works Ill just set a static IP for the PS3 and set it as the DMZ.

Chris, there are documented issues with this game on all platforms in terms of online play and the servers. While doing things improves this they are working on multiplayer fixes to address all these issues.

From what I have read, UPnP should avoid having to mess around opening ports. I didnt try it myself as I am not at all clued up when it comes to networking. I was also busy last night trying to improve my network connection (keeps spazzing out with DNS errors) with the help of a more clued up friend.

Changed my wireless channel (found there was a fair amount of noise) and moved my router a little closer. If I still have problems tonight, I am wiring the PS3 to the router.

To be honest, I dont think there is any need to change the settings on the router to open up ports. From what I hear, MW2 had just as many MP probs on release. For now Im just going to complete the campaign at a leisurely pace and then hopefully the MP engine will be patched up when I finish. I started the campaign last night and tbh I thought it was pretty good.. Fast paced and really quite difficult on hard. Extreme should be a challenge!

It is a shame about the PS3s party problems, but I did have an awesome Blops online night last night, with some great kill:death ratios, despite the rest of my random team being generally sh*te most of the time. I must have scored at least +100 k/d by the end of the night.

The annoying thing is I never had any problems whatsoever with MW or MW2 when they were first released. The matchmaking in MW2 seemed a bit slower compared to the first in the series but nothing detrimental to the gaming experience. But then this is the first of the Treyarch Call of Duty games Ive played so Im not sure if this kind of thing is commonplace with them.

Hopefully a patch or two will iron it out.

MP (PC) has gone to sh*t now, following some alledged "update" (which I never saw download anyway).  Crashes, freezes, lag from hell.  Had a game last night and I died over 30 times in one game without getting a single shot off... its borked.  :disappointed:
