Title: Burning DVDs?
Post by: GroovyPigThing on March 23, 2006, 20:10:01 PM
Ive just been trying to burn a DVD. Ive got all the files that are supposed to go in the VIDEO_TS folder, but when I burn it with Nero, it acts all fine while its burning it and then when it comes to verify it it cant find the DVD anymore, and the DVD is dead now :(

Any ideas as to what is going wrong??

Are you reading it from the burner or a different drive?

Sorry, what i meant was: are you reading the disk (post burn) from the burner, or a different drive?

Ive tried it in a DVD drive in a different computer, and on that one it recognises theres a DVD there ie it comes up with the title in my computer, but when I try to play it it cant read it. On my computer its still not recognizing it at all, rebooted and everything

Ive had a similar problem, left a DVD writting ...once full nothing would read it. Was using Nero.

DVDWR is supposed to be 16x speed. Somthing wrong if it has to be written at x1 speed?!

Have you got any "JIT" type on the fly DVD backup software running ?

Sometimes that will hose over the playback of a DVD if the JIT software sees the DVD as a possible backup destination.

Disable / close any other software that is using your DVD drive.

Also, when youre burning from within Nero are you making sure that you set the region code to the same as the region code in use by your DVDRom ? If not, your PC probably wont play the DVD back, unless it is multi-region

I only had problems with one brand of disc using Nero, it would not find the disc when I was about to burn !  MAXdisc (http://www.maxdisc.de/) is a piece of crap IMO.

1) Try having a look in windows explorer. Some DVD writers take two drive letters and it may be your software is looking on the spare one.
2) burn another disk at 1X and set Nero to check the disk after writing. You can select this while the disk is writing

1) Pretty sure its not that, because when I look in the drive in explorer it doesnt recognize it as a proper DVD - and it plays properly on other DVD players so the DVD has clearly been burned.

2) I did that. Nero burns it fine, spits it out and takes it back in again, and then cant recognize theres a DVD there :s

its clearly not nero, since it burns the DVD fine which then plays properly in other drives
