FPS shooters on consoles still suck nads IMO, have yet to find one that is actually engrossing and doesnt feel like youre being hand held because of the control system weaknesses. I dont get all the halo fanboyism at all. They are okay for quick fun but you cant take them seriously. Real men FPS on PCs. :yarr:

If you want to compete you play on a PC. Granted.

If you want to sit in your lounge having a bud and playing an awesome game on a 40" screen, you play on the xbox. Thats the difference. Its more like a movie, and I just take my time over it, and enjoy it.

I dont play games online as I dont have the time and just get beat by the geeks anyway.

Most modern console game wise has matchmaking technology so you play people of your level. Not perfect but the term is  "hardcore gamer" not geek :) It is like people calling you a geek for doing stuff on the computer today. Old hat.

I play on such a screen on my pc, as do many others at a higher fps then the console because it is pc, true your not in the lounge but I got 5.1 kicking it in my ears as well. Not really a good example there.

Driving, the fun sort of games, 3rd person etc - Console.
FPS, RTS, RPG, MMO etc - PC

The lounge is way better as an experience. A 24" monitor in your bedroom sitting on a chair is not the same as two mates playing in the lounge on a 40-60" screen with beers.

The PC is better if you want to play competitively. Im crap anyway.

Completely different game types, Playing a wii with 4 people is dam fun, Driving game with beer and a mate is fun but the screen size console to pc is irrelevent thats all. I have a 40 inch LCD for my pc and playing modern warefare is dam good. Playing 2 will be great as well. I got a cinema Seat for my desk which is comfy as well. Everyones set up is different though.

So many good Xbox 360 games out in Q1 though. Mass effect 2 just to name one.

Mine has been sat there since Friday afternoon and no way of installing it as it requires steam to get the files for the PC version. Fingers crossed this will unlock tomorrow or after midnight tonight as steam has the release date as the 12th.

If you got the PC version you will get a message saying your install id is invalid due to Steam not unlocking files till the 10th.

Its the PS3 version, arrived straight through the letterbox via Parcel Force from a gameplay.com pre-order. Working fine online although obviously not many people about to play against yet.

I must admit though I am not looking forward to playing the game and I am disappointed already before I start playing it personally. Was round a mates house on Sunday and he started the Single Player part of the game and he was done with it in around 5 hours. Not good as I was only looking at playing the SP and the co-op parts of the game and not the MP much.

Personally I play through the SP on Veteran, that way I get my moneys worth :) If I finish the SP in under 12 hours on the hardest setting I feel like Ive been robbed. With the CoD games I know that Ill be getting a good 20-30days of online time out of the MP so I dont mind :)

Im personally very disappointed that more and more games these days (with some notable exceptions, eg mass effect) are cutting down the single player part of the game and increasing the multiplayer bits

now im not saying that mutliplayer is bad, far from it, its just not my cup of tea anymore. But i am saying that one shouldnt be sacrificed for the other

Oh what to do...

Pickup my pre-order @ midnight and pay full retail. Get a couple of hours in before bed...

Wait until tomorrow, head to Sainsburys for 7am. Grab a copy for £26. If no stock, go and pickup my pre-order at 8am; get in an hour or so before work...

...grow up.

$110 Here and that is from a cheap online site. Shops will have it at $130/40

As for hours played - None of us here should play on normal for games. Normal these days is basically easy because they want more Joe Blogss Picking up and playing games. Easy is "Look, if your really dumb, this will allow you to play the game".
Always take the next notch up.
Get the hardest going on modern warfare and feck, some levels are hard.

Got the hardened edition last night, played a bit of the single player campaign then got bored as its just more of the same and ended up on Call of Duty Classic. I am spending more time on a remake of the original CoD than I am on MW2 xD.
