Can not please everyone but I will defiantly stake that the PS5 design will cause more issues with people and possible issues with manufacture and build quality and cooling with it, especially with the early version from everything I have seen.
It also seems to lack the ports and you CAN Not expand on the storage is something that will also matter I think in the long run.

I would be amazed if they haven't learnt something from the issues with the PS4 hardware and cooling, but it all remains to be seen. I'm unlikely to be first in line for either system as the first batches always have problems - my first Xbox One X was hosed, we all remember ring of death, etc - but in any case we will find out soon enough.

Also you can expand the storage, not sure where you got the idea from that you can't (it would be crazy not to!)
Sony has opted to allow PS5 owners to expand storage using SSD drives that meet its spec for performance. It’s not clear how many drives will even meet this baseline at launch, but it does mean PS5 owners will have greater storage options eventually.

With the X Series you have to have proprietary cards for expansion, another move that smacks of Sony rather than MS  I'm not surprised by this in all honesty though, those pointless 'game drives' have been around for some time now, but reading into it in both cases this seems to be to offer optimum performance linked directly to the new architecture, so it's not quite the same thing. You can still expand the Xbox with traditional USB storage but it will be slower.

What is great about both is that they are really pushing the boat out to make these devices truly standalone from PC in terms of architecture and where performance matters, its no longer going to be equivalent to say PC master race because they are not like for like. Its going to be as revolutionary as the first PlayStation.

I updated the thread title to make it more searchable!

The retail price for the PlayStation 5 has leaked online. Tech enthusiast Ben Geskin stumbled upon a listing for the new console on Amazon’s French website, revealing a €499 price for the standard model and a €399 for the digital (disc drive-less) edition, calculating to approximately $560 and $450, respectively.

In addition to the price points, the Amazon page also included a November 20, 2020 release date in France. Unfortunately, however, the listing has since been updated to no longer include the leaked information.

Be interesting to see if that sticks.

Not hard to fake, yeah. I didn't read much into it to be fair and assumed it would either end up false or change either way. That does explain why I didn't see more reports of it though. :)

Usual MO, buy both.

Did that on the previous generations, not this last generation though.  Never bought a PS4, and never felt like I was missing out on anything really.

I have a oneX downstairs, looks brilliant using HDR etc, I've played RDR2 and Forza, that's it, on that basis this next gen is probably the last time I get both, at least this time both manufacturers are "going for it" :ptu:

Since most 1st Party Sony will come to PC and Xbox will defiantly come to PC with Cross buy and in many cases cross play too, plus the cost of both consoles. You may want the living room gaming option but buying two vs getting a modern PC - That may be the better option.

For me still, the Xbox with the cross buy, cross play and online service - This seems to be the best complimentary option to PC.

I will almost certainly be going Ryzen next build, whether that is gen4 or not remains to be seen. But I gather Intel right now simply cannot meet the demands of performance, die size or fixing the security exploits and it's going to continue that way. AMD were always the underdog (with Cyrix being the mongrel, remember them?). It's good to see them bringing the power  :ptu:

People on say the 3600x like myself with RTX and 16GB are still getting insane perfomance. Why I am just going to get a RTX card when I can at some point.
Look at the prices and budget at the time but I do not think you have to go full new if you can get a great mobo deal with gen3 mobo supporting the new PCI express and still be very happy with the perfomance.

The only thing still good in my system is the CPU/mobo/mem combo, but I look at how fast memory + NVMe is now and I'm thinking damn I must be bottlenecking hard on the base architecture. My SSDs are all old and relatively slow now. But again, no point me making that leap unless i'm going Ninja Turbo Hyper Mega build again to last me another 5+ years (which the occasional GPU upgrades).

Looked at how much my GTX 970 and 256GB M500 SSDs are worth now and its bugger all. It's all come on leaps just in the last couple of years, after a lull. The big architectural improvements are finally making it worthwhile to do a big upgrade again.

Same with the consoles (getting back on track!), the Xbox One wasn't a huge leap, neither was PS4, Pro / X is what they should have been originally when launched. Imagine buying a PS3 back in the day, with it being 720p only and underpowered/lacking latest tech and then having to buy a PS3+ to play films too, then deciding you need the PS3 Pro to get full HD. it was bad enough we had the full fat, the slim, etc. Madness. Part of which makes me think I should hold out on the next gen for a while in case the same happens again.
