decent free DVD player for windows 10?
on: March 18, 2017, 09:59:24 AM
Decided to try to watch some DVDs yesterday, or at least as much as I could, got about 45 minutes through the first one using the fairly crap free Windows 10 DVD player. Had to stop, couldn't concentrate on it. Went back later and M$ had installed an update. For some reason their DVD player was borked, It immediately closes back down when you try to start it.

So need something a bit better, reliable, and preferably free.

Installed easily and working fine :)

Presently watching the first disc of the Shannara Chronicles, based on a series of books by Terry Brooks. It's actually quite good for a low budget fantasy series. Decent computer graphics and better than average acting. They managed to  get in John Rhys-Davies as the Elven king.

The books tell a story of a future earth devastated by some unknown cataclysm. Evidence still remaining of what was our civilisation. The remains of our technology and cities are clearly displayed in the video. Demons and magic seeped into the world, causing devastation, before it was contained. A single magical tree holds the horde back, with every leaf holding a single demon. When a leaf falls, that demon is released, the tree is dying.
