seems to hang a bit less under load.

uses your old profile just fine, tho some extensions wont work.

Wont hurt, just dont uninstall your old version as some stuff in Unbuntu is dependent on it. :P

If you grabbed the non installer version, just unpack and double click on the firefox icon. Make sure its permissions are set to be executable. Mine was out of the box.

This one worked for me: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/tinderbox-builds/prometheus-mozilla1.8/firefox-2.0a1.en-US.linux-i686.tar.gz

Is there any next level shizzle worth installing this for? Buggy 1.0.7 is due an upgrade but a hog of an alpha isnt going to be worthwhile for surely?

The tabbed browsing is slightly different and it seems faster.

Its running ok which im surprised at. Ifyou have linux its ok to test but dont know how youd get round installing it onver 1.0.7 in windows

Its meant to have new google features but i cant find them

hasnt crashed on me yet, just used it an hour or so though.

They moved the close tab button. Revelation of revelations.

Each tab now gets a button, but only the active one has a clitoral burnish to it, the others are greyed out.

I think its supposed to  have a phishing detector or something as well.

Other than that, not much different than 1.5 final that I usually use on my Dapper Drake.

Same as linux, just get the non-installer version: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/tinderbox-builds/pacifica-mozilla1.8/firefox-2.0a1.en-US.win32.zip

works ok for me in windows, cant really notice much difference. the buttons on the tabs are a bit poo but i suppose theyre useful for people without middle click

you can make it open things which would open a new window open in a tab instead, and I dont think you can do that in the old one

There is search in Bookmarks in 1.5  Go to Manage Bookmarks... and there is a search box at the top of that which allows you to search through your bookmarks.

i may give this ago; i used to think FF was the cats pyjamas until i used Safari, which made FF looked very flakey and rickety by comparison... :(

You can do that in 1.0.7 at least, I have been using that feature for some time.
