I feel old now :( Parents used to take us down the local pier arcade. Give us a  quid each & off we go.. I was usually scrounging more 10ps within 10mins.. my brothers used to go straight to the slot machines & win another quid  - every time, the jammy bastards

All the old arcade classics were great but I was always on the 2p drop coin jobbies or the one-arm bandits :D

The first game I ever played was on a Vax, which many years later I found out to be a *nix server! (Still not sure about that).

It was a simple idea, you control a cannon in the middle bottom of the screen, planes fly overhead and drop paratroopers, you must shoot them down otherwise when they land they run to your cannon and destroy it.

Zool on the Amiga 500 was probably the first game I played properly.

C&C was the first PC game I played.

hmm,

Probably the "Grandstand 20-in-1" thing that plugged into the TV.  Followed by Mars Lander on the Acorn Electron and Zaxxon on the Colleco Cartridge System.

On the Mac the 1st game i played was a Star Trek Next Generation game, though the Mac was also my initial introduction to FPS Games with Maraton. Wolfenstien 3D was the 1st PC game i played properly.

At school:

A few adventure games on the BBCs
Space Invaders

At home:

Centipede
Asteriods
Missile Command
"Soccer"
Leaper
Cops & Robbers :)
Awesome side-scrolling shooter (DefenderII?)
There was a sort of 1st person Asteriods too.

On an Atari 65xe (http://www.btinternet.com/~selbyd/65xe.html).

The games came on cassette tapes and cost £1-5 each. Took about 5-10 minutes to (sometimes) load and they made a horrible screechy noise.

Then sega came into my house and started charging £30 a pop.

the very first game I ever played was Battle Chess, must have been about 5 or 6. It was a chess game where the pieces came to life and fought when you made a move

Actually maybe thats not entirely true. Remember playing a bit of text-based Dune on a comically brick-like monochrome (orange!) toshiba laptop.

What was that cool racing game for the C-64 where you could adjust gravity? Sort of like a 3-D Moon Patrol--which also happens to rock. :D

i think the first game i played on a PC was Championship Manager 95.

The computer I think was 66mhz(with the turbo button  :? ) 8mb ram and 200mb HDD. Running win95a. Still got it in the garage. It used to take an hour to setup a game with 3 of my mates, i can remember we used to go out for a game of footy or cricket while we waited for it to load.    good old days!

after that is was probably C&C Red Alert, that was on a P90 and it blew me away, still play it to this day.

One of the games that came with the Amstrad CPC 664 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SymbOS) (Green Screen), written in the back of the manual. Had to type it in using BASIC (hardcore! :P). You were flying a bomber coming into land and you had to bomb these buildings to avoid crashing. Have no idea if it had a name.

First console was the NES, with Super Mario Bros. :)

Typed it in on the ZX81, an even worse keyboard and at least a year earlier. Think at least one version of it was called bomber, very original title.

My computing life started with a Commodore 16+4

My started on my mates apple something..., had an external tape cassette drive, and used to play things like lemmings or prince of persia on it. :)

I vaguely remember having to type "chain" and stuff at a command prompt.

Then I got my first every computery console. Binatone something... played pong, tennis (pong with a different name, and scoring system), squash (both paddles on one side), badminton (slower version of tennis), and various other pong like games

Then upgraded to a console I cant remember the name of but it had basic colour, with plastic inserts that would slide over 9 button control pads to give you different key combinations to play games like frogger, or space invaders. Something like Maxivision? or multivision??

WOOT!!! FOUND A PICCIE of it! :D

Then got myself a NES :) and it kicked ass!!! remember coming home the day my parents bought it, found them in my room having played super mario brothers for hours and hours while I was around my mates for the day (was meant to be a surprise for me).

LOL Battlechess!

My dad had that on his 386. The castle thingy used to resemble the thing in some sort of dodgy way, the way it came to life. The sound was classic, fuzzy and screachy.

Who remembers Barbarian?

The beat em up style game where you had...

web of death
And the head chop move and when you chopped off their head the goblin thing came to pick it up and drag it off

CLASS

I remember me and my brother could get to silly levels just timing the head cop move right at the very start as the npc walked up ^^
