New mp3 player
on: May 18, 2006, 20:38:11 PM
Ive worked my way through a few cheapy ones but on Saturday I set myself on getting a iPod Nano.

So I went into the shop and saw this:

2gb, £130 ( can be found for £110-£125 online), its about the same size and price as the nano but it looks way sturdier and the screens bigger too. Sound quality is great, the battery lasts forever and the menus are nice and easy to work aroud.

 :ptu: Nice bit of kit.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Samsung always make delicious kit. Apple dont own the intellectual rights to cool these days.

Looks nice, but is the battery user servicable and does it mount as mass storage? If yes and yes, then good stuff.

I have a feeling that Ipods are going to not age well, and visually become the used Epilady in the 50c bin at the fleamarket.

I dont know about the battery, Ill look into it but its got a 12month warranty so Ill take it back if it goes.

Its drag and drop stuff from My Comp, but it does ask for wmp10 to be installed.

Ill try it with linux later if I get time :)

Seems it does mount as mass storage, and the battery is of a different composition compared to the iPod, so its not as likely to go kaputsky. Still dont know if you can replace it yourself, but probably. Only Apple would make something where you have to send it in to replace the battery. Idjuts.

no you dont, just pop it open with a flatblade :D
buy a replacement battery for 50p

however the ipod is a design icon of our age. whenever people think of this age, it will be of the ipod.

Thats where I got the pic lol

Ya, theyre weird at first but didnt take long to get used to. Tap to move up or down, hold your finger on it to scroll fast or push down to select.

What would work really well is a proper laptop-style touchpad - this is like a simplified version of one.
