fixing pc for lad who used to work for me, full of viruses etc..
had windows 10 on, formated and installed win7
everything woks fine with default windows gfx driver
but as soon as I install the proper drivers and reboot the screen powers off a split second after windows loading screen and doesn't come back on
remote desktop works fine, everything works fine remotely... but screen is powered off locally (tested div ports, 2x gfx and 1x onboard)
tries some older drivers, no difference
I'm lost, google isn't giving me any decent results
any ideas anyone?

Bit of a long straw but maybe its trying to use onboard Intel instead of the graphics card?
-
tried swapping the cable over to the on board already, made no difference :-s
I'm totally lost :-s

What i found searching, might help http://ccm.net/forum/affich-22454-screen-goes-blank-after-starting-windows . Short story, if Del, windows might think you have two monitors. Method, hook monitor to on board card to change settings.

it's a home made system, made by his brother mate, which his brother bought, and now he bought it from his brother :-s
I've been thinking about it all week and I'm totally lost
normally if I'm struggling to fix a PC and at least have a few ideas, or can mess/look around and figure it out

Couple of long shots.
Check bios settings, there used to be one that switched which GPU was being used.
It might be the PSU is short of power, putting the drivers on activates the card fully and there isn't enough for everything.

even more confused now
I can connect with remote desktop connection no problem... but you can't change any gfx settings in remote desktop
runs fine in safe mode.... but again can't change any gfx settings in safemode
figured I'd use anydesk (bit like team viewer)... but if I connect with anydesk the screen is blank (my remote screen)
I've already done it once... but formatting and re-installing windows again (win7 64bit)
if this doesen;t work I might try dropping it down to 32bit, 32bit driver might not cause it ? (bit of a long shot)
I'll nab another PSU to try too, think I've got a spare at home

fresh install, no internet, no updates
first/only thing done is install gfx drivers.... exact same problem :-s
thing is.... it was working ok under win10 before I formated

unformat ? :)
