Just had a blast, honestly I dont think its all that. I will play some more midweek probably, but I had 30 mins then switched it off, certainly not in a rush to play it again.
Could well be just another FPS...

I dont and wont use live, and I dont see how they will know when I played it, if you unplug the console it resets the clock :lol: :roll: (its also not networked so it cant get the correct time either)
Besides MS said they would ban MS employees only, not those in the public who got sold it.
Your comment about another fps is another fps rings true, the only reason im getting the special edition 360 console is because I like the colour and mine keeps breaking, not because I like the halo franchise :lol:

Nah, its people, they have made public announcements and told the stores to inform people and emailed people who they seen online and asked them not to go online and if they do again they will be banned so people have a warning and then if the ignore it, bye bye live.
FPS are all the same its what they add and the reply value that matters with them and the thing with past halo games is even though the second was not as good as the first they have a reply value and co op had a reply value. 4 player adding more mobs and playing online so you got a full screen play as well is kind of a big thing

I know but its like printing or putting out there the harry potter books, people have been arrested for just having a copy ad changed so they are very strict on things.

Can you say the same thing to Bioshock that its just another FPS? Its a totally new style of FPS compared to others and thats why its so acclaimed to be one of the greatest Xbox 360 and PC games out there. Can Halo 3 beat Bioshock?

Bioshock is amazingly pretty, but it is actually a throwback in gameplay. What happened to the idea about online gaming, and multiplyer? what about non-linear gameplay? It is interesting to see how much the Unreal3 engine is capable of though.
I bought it, i played it, now im back on STALKER and Empire At War, while I wait for Universe At War, and the STALKER add-on pack to arrive.

Trying to avoid reading the reviews out there but I have seen scores of 9.5+ out of 10 and nothing below 95% yet.
You personally need to play it to see but I personally think the online co-op and the large terrain fights and the record feature are going to bring some interesting play.
I can see sharing videos being quite popular in regard to all the fun stuff you could do with warthogs etc.

I just popped into town to trade out a load of old games and as a result Ive got a midnight pre-order in place :)
So Ill be up there for a midnight collection; I just hope the bloke I work with is doing the same, otherwise therell be issues in the office tomorrow morning :D

That was my plan too but the look on the face of the guy in Game when I said I didnt have a pre-order in place put the fear of jebus up me.
From what I could tell I managed to get the last guaranteed copy from my local Game store. I say this as someone phoned up whilst I was still there to pre-order and they were told that there were no pre-orders left ?!

I really really find it hard to believe that there will ever be a software shortage, its so so easy to knock DVDs out at a crazy rate.

Went past gamestation it was pretty busy, but i decided to wander in my local tesco, was talking to the manager early today he said he had 90 copies. (94 but he accidentally sold some last monday).
Not special edition or anything but i didnt pre-order so its good.

Boy the helmet is BIG! I was waiting in the queue and the first person to walk past with the Legendary Edition I thought had bought the Halo 3 console the box was so huge.

Ive had a couple of hours of play time now and I have to say that imo they have done a fine job of polishing up the game :)

Went and bought the Ltd Edition at midnight as I couldnt wait for my Legendary to get delivered, which it now has.
Started playing as soon as I got it home and have finished the campaign mode on Legendary difficulty on a 3-player co-op already. Now I need to try out the multi-player.

how many hours of game play did you get from the campaign in co-op ?

It took the 3 of us around 11 hours to complete it on Legendary, so it has got a good amount of playtime in it. It was only about an hour ago we stopped playing.

Good game, but the bit with the bugs, the mesh is bulletproof but i can throw grenades through it. :(

anyone played online yet? Had a go last night just before bed (only played campaign for 3 hours).
The matchmaking is really fast now (compared to beta) probably just because theres so many more noobs on it atm). But every game I had was really fun and really fair.

I restarted the campaign on Legendary last night.
First time through the first level on Heroic took about 40mins....second time through on legendary took 1hr 15mins :o

7 would be better but yeah about then if someone else is around, apperently 3 is the money shot in terms of the right balance for co-op, I can show you my halo tricks :) Me and bro are dam good at getting jeaps and stuff into places like inside you should not be able to, the bikes in halo 3 make it dam easy :)

Legendary edition boxset is waaaaaay over the top for my liking, both mine going on eBay :shock:
I have my halo console, love it :) has a benQ drive in it which is nice, just need to wait till a moddable firmware comes out, at which time I will swap the fans for talismoon greens, as the current fans are crap and loud!

Sorry I didnt reply last night Nexus, I had lost my rag big time with the in game save/resume and in all honesty Id have just barraged you with abuse :)
Id worked my way down the highway on a warthog to a certain point and decided to go for dinner. I hit "Save and Quit".
When I came back from dinner, I hit "resume solo game"...and it put me right back inside the ops center !!
An hours game play wiped from existance; I am really chuffed off.

Its not going to be the best out there but all the scenery looks great and acts well and the lighting and looks great and when your walking with a big gun the characters look great and it is very close to looking as good as mass effect and that is apparently set to be the most amazing in terms of graphics so far of the next gen consoles

It is a bit of a given a game set under water and where the developers in interviews said one of the first graphical elements they created first and continued to work on all the way through the development being the water that the under water game would have nice water effects But halo 3 water is far from crap
This is multiplayer beta which has graphics turned down compared to single player for better running over the net

Some wont like the game and that is fair enough and it is not and wont be the best looking game out there but to say it looks crap and the water for example looks crap is talking a bit of bullcrap.
Bioshock is an inclosed game and as such you can do a more with the graphics, Halo 3 is no slouch in its graphics but is a lot more open with a lot more going on, when you run theatre you can go to all of the locations and most are massive and everything is moving and running and Every thing in the air etc is a model and able to be destroyed.
You cant reach them but the massive ships in the air will take damage apparently and you can shoot anything else out the sky and on legendary with 4 people and just a ton of mobs no lag or slow down
Very different games and a bit daft trying to compare them in that way

gameplay > graphics first thing and I like halo 3 but some do not true
But they are different, FPS yes but one take doom 3 looked amazing but it can be because it is all enclosed and the engine was shown to be sh*te on outdoor and no one used it for that reason.
Halo 3 has massive outdoor environments and is has Hardly any load time compared to like bioshock with a few hefty ones and still is no slouch in the visuals
No question it is not the nicest looking out there but blizzard have gone for emersive, replay value, smooth gameplay etc and it still looks really good on a good hd lcd and as you said in regard to not as good as dx5 games that was harsh and untrue which is the another point.
Stating graphics not as good as they could have been would be a fair comment, some love the game a few are disappointed, some feel the single player is to short and that would also be fair to say But how you put it was very much over the top and in terms of your graphics opinion wrong and harsh

I wouldnt say it looks terrible, and the way Bungie went about HDR (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=995b221d-6bbd-4731-ac82-d9524237d486) is pretty interesting. :)

May main beef with the game tbh is the fact that its BORING! the chap who I work with has come to the same conclusion, hes also stopped playing his.

Took my limited edition halo console back today, im a bit annoyed as it looks fantastic, but the fact that some have 65nm technology, and mine doesnt just wound me up, so back it went!

Thirded - thought it was a real poor show after all the hype. Games from late 2005 look better FFS.

They are slightly dissapointing to be fair. Its obvious what the console is capable of with games like Gear Of War.
With your comparisson to BioShock Ill defend Halo 3 a bit. As as far gameplay goes this is the first game, halo is the third in the series and will have constraints set upon by what has been set the first 2 games.
Graphics. Mixed opinion, I think its called effort myself that justifies why it is poor. Facial models are especially bad. It doesnt look bad, its just doesnt scream of effort.
Nexus brings up the issue of indoor outdoor graphics. Well, with an indoor enviroment there is my far a lot more detail to render, when you look at the size of the enviroments being created though, its a city, its not just the enviroment you are in its what you can see and how far also. Its very impressive.
I would agree, but the system is more than capable of it, I only have to look at Crysis and Half Life 2: Episode 2 out next week
Halo 3 will never go down as a game of all time, simply a worthy way to end a good series.

It doesnt look as nice as GoW imo but the MP game play is much better. Bungie have done a good job on adding loads of different game types. I really like having the choice between solo and team based play.

ive played Halo 3, looked nowhere near as nice as GoW like you said, and the multiplayer imo wasnt as good either...
GoW is far more teambased and its addictive
for that reason i havent bought halo 3, i may borrow it off someone to complete the campaign mode but for online multiplayer im still playing GoW every day

Did you try the team based MP stuff ? Ive quite enjoyed the team slayer and team VIP games that Ive played so far. Its nice having the choice to not just play deathmatch (solo or team).

Really cant be arsed to read 6 pages of posts on Halo 3...
Got the game yesterday and played the 1st 5 missions last night local co-op with a mate (on legandry) and should be doing the rest tonight. Its good fun, nothing special but an entertaining shooter with co-op.
The local co-op is annoying that its not widescreen, have to play with picture in centre of the screen! I thought something was wrong when I frist booted up and went on but it looks like thats the way it is :(
