Id seriously consider adding £30 to the budget and getting the 512MB version of the 8800GT

Once you start playing with the budget and thinking I may aswell get a 250GB hard drive then the price is up there again.

Not planning on buying I dont think, just thought it was worth a post. Although I am in need of a gaming PC :(

Thats hardly a "gaming PC" mate. More a balanced mid-range system. You wont be able to run many newly released games on decent settings, and certainly no future releases, unless you like upscaling.

P.S. Add on £200 for a decent TFT, £60 for mouse + keyboard, £xx for some speakers (from £5 up to whatever you want to pay) and the system quickly loses its appeal.

Does anyone really upgrade their mouse/keyboard/speakers that often every time they build a rig though? Ive had the same for years, tech doesnt change much on those.

And unless youre one of these people that wastes money buying cheap nasty TFTs every time there is a price drop on something better you shouldnt be upgrading your screen that often either. Ive had the same monitor for almost 10 years, and only now am I thinking a very good TFT is worth the money to upgrade.

TFT, keyboard, speakers etc..... are things I personally take from computer to computer and very occasionally would I upgrade.

But like I say I am not planning on buying and yes a monitor would add to that total for someone who did not have one.
