Hi all, well I was running 32 bit XP on my system, but was having some problems (like a No Disk error that wouldnt go away)
Windows 7 looked tempting, so thought Id try out the Beta of it. Was recommended to try out the 32bit version though. Installed it all, but I was having two big problems with it. NO usb ports would work at all. They were all showing as working, all enabled in BIOS, correct mobo/chipset drivers installed from the ASUS website, etc. but nothing! My wireless mouse wouldnt even work so Im using a PS2 mouse in the mean time.
I was also having audio issues with my soundcard, but thats not so important.
So Ive gotten sick of Windows 7, it is a Beta after all. So Ive installed XP Pro x64 onto the system.
Now not only does the USB not work, but the LAN connection wont now either!
In Network Connections it shows up two 1394 Connections. Both are connected but have no packets at all being sent or received. Everything is working according to Device Manager. Ive checked my TCP/IP settings (tried static and dynamic) and still not working. This is my main concern as this means no internet on my PC. Also, why is it a 1394 connection and not Ethernet?
USB still not working! Checked the BIOS again and everything is Enabled. Ive deleted the USB bits in the Device Manager then restarted so theyd re-install, but still nothing!
I feel like I want to smash this computer through the wall
Thanks!
EDIT: mobo is an ASUS "P5N-E SLI"
