I can see quite a few privacy issues with that if they send data and record it elsewhere. They will certainly know you have been looking at granny pron.

Then modern phones could use this anyway now if they have face recognition.

I'm presently looking for a decent cheap new 5G ready mobile, but not much sticks out to me in the £200-£300 range.

Presently using an older Motorola G5 which would now be considered very unusual as it has an easily removable battery (try tracking it without power.) The cover I have on (cost £2 over 3 years ago) was degrading badly so I recovered with some 1mm thick furniture leather I had lying around. The effect isn't perfect but good enough till I get a replacement phone. It's also now got a nifty tab to stop the cards I have in there falling out.

It's not much more of a stretch than what currently is able to be done/is done.

I mean, my phone bypasses the lock screen if I press the power button and it sees my face. A lot of the features they describe are for when the phone is on anyway.

And when it's off it'd just see the insides of my pocket mostly :D

Outside of the security and privacy concerns I can just see and least the first gen being just crap at its intended use.
I can imagine it think its lost your face and locks your phone as your using it or flicking lock and unlock constantly or just not be usable if your a person that has your phone with podcast on the bench or sink as your getting ready for work or propped up watching youtube etc.

I just see it as a bad idea all round.

So what if a couple of less than honest people decide to kidnap you and hold the phone in front of your face to get access?

A really modern phone may never be completely off.
