Ive read that you can select a few choices on backstory when starting ME2 anyway...

Yes you do, I got to chose from 2 (I completed it 3 times but I assume one of those was the bad ending) both give you a very brief rundown of the choices you made in the first, essentially just highlighting 7-8 things like

WREX - ALIVE
COUNCIL - DEAD
etc

The interesting thing is even if you where a complete hardass your Renegade/Paragon meter starts from the beginning again.

Im only 6 hours in but I have done my usual trick of not touching the storyline as much as possible, so I have done the first mission, and thats essentially it 8-)

Will keep it spoiler free except for they havent changed the galaxy map music  :w00t: if it aint broke, dont fix it

Question is have they improved the side-planet missions? The music, as ok as it was, was made worse by the fact that every time you heard it it pretty much meant you were about to start another tedious side-mission.

I also ordered the collectors edition, should get it thursday

also the game took me like 24 hours play time to finish. pretty good going in todays terms. Compare that to MW2 which was like 8 hours (altho you could say that the multiplayer more than makes up for it)

Ive only done some moderate exploring, so have found but one side mission, which was a short burst of activity, I cant comment on others yet obviously :)

Must admit I actually didnt mind the exploring missions too much, as I found the challenge of getting up some areas to be a bit like what I used to do in WoW which was trying to get as far up the blatantly impassable cliffs as I could. The thing I didnt like was the scanning/map interface. Itd be nice to have a "scan all planets for minerals/artefascts upon arrival in system" option considering that is what you do :D

Ah, this could be a minor gripe for you.

I wouldnt have as much of a problem if its more obvious which are scanable and which have been scanned. The number of times in ME1 I entered a system and scanned half a dozen planets before coming to the conclusion Id already been there was too many. That and the fact that to do the mineral quest, on my 2nd play through I had something like +5 extra for each type bar one, which I was 5 under for right through to near the end :/

Anyone got an ME1 savegame file (PC) they could donate?

Dont recall exactly what I did but I guess I was about 60-80% Paragon.  Perks-wise, would have been maxxed on strength/damage.  Very little weird abilities as I played as a grunt not a freak-a-zoid hippy.

Not sure on the council (probably dead - would have preferred humans on it I guess).  Wrex died and saved the girl instead of the young homster.

Can anyone help? :)

Its about the only remaining dilemma...xbox or PC. the save is on the xbox, but graphically my computer would make it a much better game.

Anyone played ME1 on both xbox and PC, which played better?
