35GB? That's an insane amount! Half of one of my SSDs in one fell swoop in fact  :wtf: It's getting to the stage where its 3/4 games per SSD and I can't see why in all honesty, graphics and game size haven't grown that much have they?

If it really is that size, could be a next gen GFX curtain raiser, who knows 8)

35gb?! Thats f**king nuts!

The console version is on a single DVD right? Are they just not compressing any textures in the game just for sh*ts and giggles? Would explain why they  are releasing PC a few weeks after console.

Two disks for the 360. If its 35gb then you're going to be able to enjoy Max's awful Hawaiian shirt in all its eye popping glory.

No such thing!

I'm really looking forward to it on PC now, rockstar really did wonders on the console release IMO.

A few days ago I installed Aion online - the folder is 34.4GB excluding the loader.

With high resolution bitmaps, video and sound recordings. it's quite easy to push up the size of a game massively.

That is precisely the reason I chose a 240GB disk instead of a 120, and I can use a pair to give a 480GB raid system if I need it.

I'm wondering when games will exceed 1TB in size.

You don't need 32GB, running at the so called recommend high specs is purely going to be a tech demo like Crysis and look how that turned out, everyone knows the games that sell the most cough*WOW use lower end graphics that cover a wide spectrum of hardware support to cater for everyone.

Diablo 3 is in the same vein and while I think it looks good, it's hardly phenomenal - they could have made it look better but chose not to - if you turn the settings from high to low you lose a tiny bit of texture complexity and some shadows, thats about it. So really, just because a game can run with higher graphics settings doesn't mean you have to make it so it can only do so. You can't really compare Blizzard's MO in that respect because if every games company followed Blizzard we would have very little tech progression (or we'd end up with a series of DNF type failures). The next gen of games could and should blow us away like the first time people saw the new Doom tech demo, its people like Carmack pushing the envelope that get the next engines out and sell a lot more than just one game off the back of it, or Valve's HL2 engine, Unreal engine, etc. Whispers about what the next few years of GPU hardware is going to be capable of and what they are putting into consoles should be a good indicator of this being no false statement. Someone has to make an incredible game engine in the first place. The casual gamers want these sort of games more than the invested gamers that play WoW and the like religiously.

Yes, it's just a TAD better looking than the 360...

As you can see from the specs list, we’ve worked hard to make sure the game will run smoothly on a wide range of PC builds. But it’s when you get towards the top end of that range that you can really push a game to its limits, and the game will look and run incredibly on the most advanced current machines around at the moment and well into the near future.

You’ll find that screen resolution is scalable, there’s triple and even sextuple monitor support which helps to run higher screen resolutions, there’s various anti-aliasing options, scalable water quality, scalable shadow quality, increased detail for characters and vehicles and a scalable texture filter that further increases visual quality. We’re also supporting DX11 with Max Payne 3, with features including Hull/Tessellation/Domain Shaders (which adds curvature to the character/vehicle models), Gather4 (for optimized shadow sampling / FXAA), Geometry shader / Stream Output and DX11 texture samplers to name a few.

As you can tell, there’s a lot for PC fans with higher-spec hardware to sink their teeth in to.

Check out our updated range of minimum to maximum tested system specs here and at www.rockstargames.com/maxpayne3/pc:

HIGH RECOMMENDED SPECS

Windows 7/Vista (32 or 64 bit)
Intel i7 Quad Core 2.8Ghz or AMD equivalent
