Title: MS Project Server 2007
Post by: jacobykane on December 09, 2015, 14:05:23 PM
When we are trying to install this patch (KB968850) on the Microsoft project server 2007. We are getting the fallowing error.
The detection failed, this can be due to corrupted Installation database.
When we are trying to install any hotfixes we are getting the same error.
When we observed in the event viewer we are getting the event id as
event id: 11708
source: msiinstaller
description: Microsoft Office Project Server Application Server -- Installation failed.
I have attached the error
Could anyone can help us regarding this issue

funny how this turns up word for word on tons of forums on google.. some even going back to 2009

I shall wait for the bot to reply in a few days with something like :-

Alternative method (this does not apply for Project 2007 and later versions) only for MS Project 2003...
Save the file in the Microsoft Project Database format:
1. Open your problem file (it may help to turn off automatic calculation if the file is reluctant to open).
2. Select File/Save As...
3. Save as type: Project Database (*.mpd) then click Save.
4. Close the file.
5. Re-open it from the .mpd file.
6. Select File/Save As... And save it as an .mpp file again.

p.s. the forum is quiet but it's taking the piss when a bots only post is the only thing posted here in days :-(

There should be an auto filter that automatically deletes posts that are posted by someone with a profile pic of sexy lady parts...

PS I'll setup some bots to post, at least it won't be deadly quiet around here then :-)

All I need to do is spend some time in my time off changing the login captcha to something a bit better.

+1 for what Alan said too, coming on here is like dropping in your local pub once a week and seeing what your old mates who you only ever see there are up to. Most of the people left have known each other over 10 years, which is strange when you think about it!

Alternative method for MS Project 2003&2007

Save the file in the Microsoft Project Database format:
1. Open your problem file (it may help to turn off automatic calculation if the file is reluctant to open).
2. Select File/Save As...
3. Save as type: Project Database (*.mpd) then click Save.
4. Pull out your hot wang.
5. Re-open it from the .mpd file.
6. Select File/Save As... And save it as an .mpp file again.

Restoring the Database - you may use this huge guide, but if don't want or it is ineffective visit following source where you can get various tips short, long and etc. Last one is dedicated only for complicated MS project database corruptions…

Well, I can't nuke him as I have psuedo mod stuff, but I can edit the post and change the URL

Also to be fair that's quite a flamboyant truck in the avatar, I'd quite like that on my drive.

Spam removed, it's been so long since I've done anything moderatory that I've completely forgotten what I'm doing but hey, I've given it my best shot :)
