Photo printer/scanner for 100 quid?

Looking for a present for the rents.
Now I know f-all about printers/scanners, so Im not sure if Im way off on budget but basically Im looking for something they can use to scan in old photos and print out new backups.
Any suggestions?

if you want something fairly basic, but that just works then take a look at the HP 4180. The carts are relatively cheap, and they are fairly quiet when they are printing out.

Epson have the possible issue of clogging and virtually everyone will say that Lexmark are to be avoided like the plague.
I would tend to go for HP or Canon depending, either are normally adequate.
