I hope it will be good, But I would like one that has the action and all that made predator 1 and 2 good but one that reveals a bit more about them, Not like AVP soppy "your all right you" thing with the women.

His script for Predators will bring back the cult alien hun...

"Predators"?

Sounds cheesy already but would be interesting if thats the route he chooses to take.

Problem with AvP is they went with some of the concepts found in the Darkhorse comics. So I guess it depends on whether he wants to follow the original style of the films, take on the predator comics, or do something different. I still think they should have made it like the comic "Prey"...set on an alien ranching world where the preds use aliens for game, and refer to humans as softmeat, and respect us for our cunning, whilst the aliens are hardmeat and instinctive/predictable, but still a respectable foe. It all started to go wrong when they sorta followed the story, but set it on earth (woman who deals with security on the world takes on some aliens and gets the respect of the sole surviving predator, taking out the queen...sounds familiar...)

I actually didnt find the AvP films too bad, so long as you treat them as a diff universe and as a comic spin-off, rather than the canonical original films

More fighting, AvP game stylee, 3 factions - all having an all-out war. That would be interesting.

A predator hunting a rogue predator would be different I guess.

They wouldnt they breed them for sport, they are one of the biggest challenges for their hunting skills.

I would like to go way off base. Either set it in the alien time line where humans are off world or just predators, a movie where nothing is really said about a predators or group of predators hunting other aliens etc would be different. It would be nice to have a movie more focused on them though.

Why do they keep doing this? I understand that theres a generation growing up on sh*t movies like Spiderman and Open Water so theres a market for classic films that they hear their peers chatting about. Well hello, put the originals back in the movie theatres.

I would totally pay to see Predator 1 on a proper big screen. Same with Die Hard and Alien and Commanda and Rocky and Indiana Jones and Terminator 2.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

It has been years and years of bad remakes or re--hashes Until Batman Begins, It showed that you can do it if you actually sit down to make a movie not money. Money will come if you do that.

Terminator 4 looks great, wolverine is actually apperently very good and another thing about these movies that work is that they are made to make the movie and thus things like rating are not considered.
Things like AVP Failed because they made them to try and get lower film ratings so more can see them to try and make more money and thus fail because you have to do cheesy solutions.

I dont think good remakes is strictly a phenomenon occurring post Batman Begins, there have been plenty of enjoyable remakes in the past. Scarface, Oceans Eleven, Insomnia, The Bourne Identity. And admittedly not my cup of tea but The Italian Job and Charlie and the Choclate Factory both did well as remakes. I mean Ben Hur has taken a huge amount of awards, did incredibly well, and is a remake.

Bourne is from the books, did not know there were old movies. But a very loose base from the books. Coc Factory was again based on book not the old movie and not intended to follow as a re-hash of the old movie as it told the proper story of the book. Oceans Eleven, 12, 13 I not really liked that much, did not rate them. The Italian Job is ok, not great.
Ben Hur is an epic, the amount of money spent on that was insane but again it follows the same rules - f**k the cost, f**k the rating, f**k how long the movie is at the end. Have that mindset when you make the movie and you get a great output.

The Bourne Identity was first done as a made for TV movie/mini-series thing in the late 80s. It was quite good, if you watch it youd be surprised how similar it is to the more modern version of the film and how they both differ from the book in the same places, hence why I lumped it in here. I know its not a remake but its still something thats been done before in a similar format that did very well at the box office.

AMEN!
By far the best idea, to much of these "re-invention of franchies" turn out to be bogus.  Stick the classics back in the cinema for a lot of weeks, clean them up so they look good on the big screen (bit like lucas did with star wars except dont be messing around adding extra scences or covering mistakes).  Movie companies would make a killing if they did that.  I know probably everyone who reads this would go and see them and so would most of their friends!

Id just like to point out to everybody that Robert Rodriguez is doing this. Surely that stands for something?

That should mean, from his past movies, that this will be a new direction compared with the Predator movies of old. I for one am looking forward to this, would be interesting to see what take Rodriguez can make from this franchise.

Rodriguez is perfect for the job to be completely honest, itll surely be a winner worthy of the original film rather than the mediocre AvP films.
