S-video to TV
on: March 27, 2006, 19:34:37 PM
Im trying to get my TV set up as a second monitor, mainly because ive been ill all week and im bored as heck.

I got all the cables set up right, when i turn my pc on, the POST appears on the TV, whilst the monitor stays blank.

But when windows loads it switches to monitor and stays there. When I try to extend my desktop to the second monitor (tv) both screens flicker and then back to normal (Monitor as normal, TV blank).

Any ideas what im doing wrong?

gfx card is ati x850xt PE.

I certainly wouldnt bother doing that sort of thing, TV screens dont usually have the quality needed and I would expect its probably only good enough for games or video.

Would be nice to hear if you manage to do it successfully though ;)

would presume its either resolution or refresh rate.

mmm, my brothers card does a simmiler thing, (ati one again)

i *think* you need to install the AID desktop manager program thing, the one that comes with the drivers..... thats what he always does...

tho Id check of any extra settings first, its a pig of a program :(

You wont get the TV to work as a second monitor, becuase the refresh needs to be PAL copatable...ie. 50hz and the usual # of lines.

It will work as a different output, but not one whole desktop, you will only be able to switch between analgue(TV) and digital(Monitor).
