Trouble connecting to WAP web UI..
on: December 07, 2009, 00:47:46 AM
Hi all, a problem Im having..

I have a Proxim AP-600 wireless access point. This goes into 4 port netgear (unmanaged) switch, sharing with one ethernet connection for my Uni accomodation internet, one to my PC and one to my laptop.

Ive set the basic config of the AP up through CLI but I cant for the life of me access the web based user interface!!

Ive reset the device with a full restore and nothing. Ive connected just my laptop to it and given them IPs 192.168.0.3 and 192.168.0.4 on the 192.168.0.1 gateway (all with /24 mask) and nothing.

Ive tried using the devices dynamic IP setting and connected it up to my switch hoping it may find an IP from the internets DHCP server but it didnt so it stuck with its default address of 169.254.128.132

Any ideas of anything else I can try to access the interface? Ive tried it on Windows XP on my PC and Windows 7 on my laptop.. Tried it in Firefox and IE. Checked the LAN settings (proxy, etc.) and theyre all as theyre meant to be.

Thanks!

Clone it onto what? I know I can easily change the MAC on my laptop running ubuntu.. How would this enable me to access the interface?

Youre getting a conflicting IP there.  That would suggest that if you clone your Laptop MAC to the AP then youll be able to set things with the IP the Lappy had (Possibly).

Another point is, does that WAP have a DHCP server built in to it?  Could be multiple DHCP servers causing a conflict.
